Description

2006 Ducati Sport 1000 - RARE - single year production monoposto. dry clutch and single rear shock absorberThis is VIN# ZDM1WAPB96B004973. one year production model - monoposto. single rear shock and the only year with a dry clutch making it one of the most rare of all modern production Ducati's. It is difficult to get exact production numbers out of Ducati - the Ducati forum puts total sport classic production numbers worldwide at 4. 19 and imported to North America 1. 32. of this Paul Smart's = 512. Monoposto's and GT's = 620 - if 20% were GT's = 124. Sport 1000 - it's suggested that yellow was produced in the largest numbers = 355. than the balance of color would be black and red. black is suggested to be the most rare probably less than = 50. making red come in somewhere between 90 and 100 examples. So. given this analogy this is a very rare and collectible Ducati. The Sport1000 took its inspiration from the 1973 Ducati 750 Sport and related 750 Imola Desmo. and had the look of a classic lightweight single-seat cafe racer. It used a two valve 1000DS motor with a 1. 25 mm (56. 1 in) wheelbase. trellis tube frame. The suspension used three way adjustable single Sachs rear shocks. and non-adjustable 43 mm Marzocchi front forks. The wheels were wire spoke large section alloy rims with tubed Pirelli Phantom tyres. Borrani were approached to supply the rims. but could not supply the volume. so Excel rims were used. The Sport1000 was available in black with a white stripe. red with a white strip. or yellow with a black stripe.

The 2006 model. known as the monoposto (solo) had a well gusseted 60 mm section asymmetric swingarm and a single shock. with stacked mufflers on the right side. low clip-on handlebars. and a dry-clutch. In 2007. a variation was made to taller clip-on handlebars. a wet-clutch. and the GT1000's dual-shock swingarm with mufflers on both sides. This change created space for passenger footpegs and a removable rear seat cowl covering a pillion seat was added. prompting the name change to Sport1000 biposto (tandem).

This particular Sport 1000 was purchased at Bellevue Ducati (WA) last year (2013) - it has a warranty lasting until 2015 - all the original parts. keys (key code card). manual and documentation come with the motorcycle. the tank has been replaced and the original retained - it is a very special immaculate example and it would be very hard to find any flaw. I had intended to keep it in my collection as the last of the real trellis framed Ducati's - life/family dictates that I should sell it. and therefore I offer it here to one lucky individual. I've owned many motorcycles; this Ducati is not only a pleasure to ride. it is the best of the best - this one will surely appreciate. If you are willing to pay the price it can be yours.
