Description

Ducati Monster 900 ie 2002

This is the very last year of the 900 monster and has fuel injection. It is unusual in that is has not been much modified apart from the 'tail tidy' and it comes with the original tail parts to put it back from standard.

It was the top of the monster range when it was made and has twin clocks. adjustable forks. alloy swinging arm etc. The 900 also had a wider rear wheel. 6 gears and hunky twin front discs.

The monster had a full service just over a year ago with new belts and new chain/sprockets. The valve gaps were also checked at this service and were found to need no adjustment.

There is a very slight dent in the tank which is not really noticeable and could probably be sucked out. There is the usual petty corrosion as you'd expect of an Italian bike of this age but the overall impression is of a tidy bike.

I have changed the starter solenoid this year and it now starts immediately on the button every time. I don't have the bike with me as I write this but think that the mileage is in the region of 18k.

It goes like a scolded cat and the suspension and brakes give a very comfortable and controllable ride. The last time I took it out I did notice that one of the fork seals was weeping so this will need to be done at the next service.

The monster also comes with some original literature.

I’m selling the monster because I’ve sold my house/garage and am staying in a small renter so the monster is being sold for me by Chris Spaett and is currently located in Ilminster but can possibly be moved to Herefordshire to view. The MOT has just run out but it has done only a few miles since the last major service.

These 900 monsters are best out on the open road and in the fast twisties with their long legs and sublime handling. they are not that happy at low speeds in town so if you’re looking for a town commuter. buy a 600. The brakes are very useful and are not intimidating. For such a powerful bike the riding position is low and is the weight and feeling of overall mass.

Anyway. if you want to know more or to see view the monster please contact Chris on 07748 114339 or c. spaett@virgin. net

UPDATE : This is not a good time of year to be selling a motorcycle so the price has been slashed. Grab yourself a bargain if you dare!
