Description

GILERA RUNNER ST200 (2009 model)Here is my beloved 200cc Gilera Runner ST200 for auction. It's being sold as spares or repair as it does not run at the moment.  Sorry for this long winded story below but I want to describe how genuine this bike is and why it stopped running. The bike was bought by me from my best friend on 4th October 2012 with just 420 miles on the clock!! He was the original owner from new which was 3rd June 2009. So basically it had only covered 420 miles in its first 3 years! We are both mature riders in our 40's and the bike has never been abused. It's been garaged from new by both of us.  My friend only bought it to make the occasional trip to work from his house which was only a 10 mile round trip.  I have mainly used it for getting to and from work too which is a 3 mile round trip. with the occasional trip into Central London to avoid the traffic and London Congestion Zone charge.  I never rode the bike in the winter as I am a fair weather rider.  The bike is in excellent condition and was always washed regularly. You will see the condition for yourselves.  It's not your usual scruffy example out there.  I have the V5 Document and it's in my name and you're more than welcome to speak to my friend who was the original owner.  I have all the old MOT's and tax discs. Again you'll be able to see the little use it has had from these:First MOT 11/05/12 (Odometer reading 403 miles)Second MOT 31/05/13 (Odometer reading 693 miles)Third MOT 02/06/14 (Odometer reading 1. 60 miles)I have the original owners manual. service book and original keys (2 in total)The bike had an LED daylight running strip upgrade fitted at a bike shop by my friend and these give the bike a lot more visual presence in both the day and night. It's also got the original Gilera 100 Year Anniversary badge (1909-2009) which was fitted at factory to all Gilera Runners in 2009.  It also comes with a Givi top box which easily fits a full face helmet.   The top box has built in led strip which is a brake light too.   The bike comes with MOT and Road Tax. The bike has honestly been faultless for me and the condition it's in has to be seen to be believed.  That's a bit of history about the bike and now here's the story of what happened and why it does not start anymore. I was travelling back from London and I looked down to notice the oil warning light illuminated. I couldn't stop as I was travelling on the North Circular Road which is a dual carriageway with no hard shoulder.  I slowed my speed down to stop at the next available safe place which I knew was about 2 miles from where I was.  I slowed my speed down to around 30mph during this time to be on the safe side.  After about a mile I then lost all drive and had to coast the bike onto the grass verge beside the road.  I then turned the ignition off and back on to see if the oil light was still illuminating and it was.  I tried starting the bike but it was only turning over with no signs of it wanting to start. I then proceeded to check the engine oil dipstick with which to my amazement was showing below the minimum line.  I then called the AA Recovery and the guy came out and said there was nothing he could do as I would have possibly done some damage to the internals of the engine by running it with such little oil.  To make things even worse whilst on the phone to the AA the bike tipped off of its side stand due to me stupidly not really thinking it was a grass verge I had parked it on.  I rested the side stand into the grass and it was obviously digging in and sinking!! This has bent the brake lever as you can see from the picture and also scuffed the side panel.  The bike was spotless of any marks and I was so angry at myself as it was my stupid mistake that caused it to tip over.  Luckily it mainly rested onto the top box and handle bar/brake lever when it fell.  The AA guy asked if I'd ever noticed any oil on the floor next to where the bike is parked and I hadn't.  The bike was then put onto the AA truck and it was dropped back to my house with myself. Since then I've not really done much with it apart from put some oil in it and a new spark plug but all it does is turn over and not fire up.   You're more than welcome to arrange coming over for a look at the bike plus I'm more than happy to answer any questions.  The reason why I'm not looking at trying to get it repaired is that I'm now looking at purchasing a bigger scooter from new as there's some good deals out there to be had.  To someone that has knowledge of repairs this really is an excellent opportunity to get a great genuine clean and un-abused bike.   The bike is sold as seen with NO warranty. If you know anything about scooters you'll know these are very very rare and sought bikes as they are no longer manufactured. The bike is for collection ONLY and I will ONLY accept cash when the bike is collected. No PayPal.  IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH THE THESE TERMS THEN PLEASE DO NOT BID!!!      This bike is also advertised elsewhere so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time without prior notice.   Once again if you are not happy with this then please DO NOT BID!!!!
