Description

For Sale is the latest from Tamiami Tyrants Custom Cycles a 1940 Harley Ua. This is not a common UL or ULH big twin flathead engine. it is an extremely rare UA engine which means its an army issued big twin flathead. These engines are extremely hard to come by. when you google "harley ua" very little information is going to come back. The engine was very recently rebuilt by a reputable engine builder here in florida.      The m51 linkert carburetor was also rebuilt by a professional and has a custom mini harley davidson  air cleaner. The early model Harley Magneto ignition was also rebuilt and is like new so the bike starts with very little effort within the first couple kicks. The bike idles and runs very strong and in the little Vl frame it rips.      The frame is a 1936 Harley VL single Loop frame with very little modifications made to get the later model big twin flathead in it. I wanted to keep as much as the frame stock as possible to retain its value. The frame is straight as an arrow and in unbelievable condition. It still has the neck lock!      The 1940 transmission was also rebuilt. it shifts and runs through gears as it should. The trans has been modified to use the vl transmission adjuster bolt so it works as it should. New clutch hub and clutch plates were used as well as new primary chain and final drive chain.          The front Springer fork is off a 1926 Harley. It was also modified very little to fit the vl frame. A rare springer shield was cut down to fit the narrow springer. The bates head light is recessed into the springer shield to keep things tight. The handlebars are very rare flanders bars that have been narrowed for the perfect fit. The internal throttle and spark advance grips and spiral assemblies are off a knucklehead and controls the carb and magneto smoothly.        The wheels are 19 inch drop center rims with a rebuilt star hub in rear and a new spool hub in front laced with parkerized spokes and firestone tires.        The gas tanks were custom made. one side holds oil and one side holds gasoline. The pin striped harley eagle was done by the lovely and talented Jillian Rossi at Bacon Fat Paint. The left tank has the knucklehead shift gate and tank shifter. The "speed shift" shift knob was a special gift handmade by my friend Nobu in Japan.         The fender was shortened and a old school mud flap was attached. The custom racing seat uses all the stock harley components with little modification. It is attached to the stock seat suspension "pogo stick". The custom mid foot controls were made using all harley parts and cut down harley pedals and mount using stock harley mounting points.       The exhaust was custom made to look like an old MCM racing exhaust. All hardware is parkerized which is a chemical etching process that gives the steel a beautiful gray color. the process was used in the early 40s when harley and america were in a shortage of material and most parts were parkerized instead of being chromed. there is no chrome or steel on this bike everything was parkerized including all hardware. spokes. pedals. linkages. grips. springer springs. headlight ring air cleaner.       The rims. frame. and fork were powder coated in a 80 percent gloss for an old school look. The gas tanks and fender were painted to match. Everything on this bike has been rebuilt or replaced with new parts. The bike was built to look like a stock bike harley would produce in 1940 and has all the old school components a it should. The bike will be featured in one or two magazines she is a beauty and I sure will miss it. The bike has a clean and clear 1940 UA harley title.
