Description

Thanks for stopping by. this is an old un-restored 1981 FXWG Wideglide. Lots of originals on bike but lots of customs too. I guess you would call it a bikers bike. not one of those fancy custom TV bikes but a everyday old bike. The frame was chrome plated back in the early 90's and it was nice at the time but shows it's age now. There is discoloration on the downtube by the battery where acid must have dripped at some time. It did not damage the frame. just the chrome. The rest of the chrome shows pitting. nbsp;rust. nbsp;and some peeling (triple tee tube cap nuts. primary cover. mirrors. etc. just all over needs re-chroming). The fenders and tank are painted HD grey. they have nicks. dings. and chipping/ worn paint. I bought this in September 1995 in South Florida. At that time the engine had just been done by Phil Petersons Harley Davidson in Perine. Florida. It is a 'stroker' motor. guessing the size around 1400 to 1500 cc. It was going to be a drag bike but the guy needed money for family so gave it up and sold me the bike. I have done a lot of minor work on it to keep it running but nothing major. It is just time to move on with other things I need to do in my life. It will need the carb put back on. an oil change and the engine timing set (I never could get that right) in order to run now. And I would suggest a set of tires too since they are old and have been sitting for 15 years. Might want to just change out all rubber hoses while you are at it. The shocks are original. still work but you might want to upgrade them too (new oil at least). It also has the 4 speed tranny. neither it nor the engine are rubber mounted ( I think that started in 1982. ) so when it runs. you know it's running! To be honest. I would bet I put no more than 500 miles on it in the whole time I have had it. so even though the motor was rebuilt almost 18 years ago it is still tight and ready for a lot more miles. I put a new speedometer on it so it only shows 68 miles. obviously it has more but no way to say for sure how many. It comes with a bin of parts. clutch plates. misc. chrome bits. nuts and bolts. manual. S&S Super carb (off for storage). just used parts from ownership (never throw away Harley parts. never know when you might need them!). On a side note. I did kick it over once a month to make sure it did not freeze up over time. Bottom line is this. you will need to pick this up after the auction ends. you will NOT be able to drive it home. consider it a 'barn find'. you will need to put some work into it to get it running again. but when you get it running it will act like the Shovel head it is and stomp most bikes out there today. I do not have any way to deliver this to you after the auction so you will need to pick it up or make other arrangements for pick up. This is an 'AS-IS' auction. no guarentee on the bike other than it will be as I have described it in this auction. Payment can be cash when you pick it up. I think that about covers it. if you have any questions just ask! I am sure I missed something.
