UP FOR AUCTION IS A VERY RARE AND UNMOLESTED BARN FIND!This is the first year produced 1960 Harley Davidson TOPPER MOTOR SCOOTER. Only 3000 of these Toppers were ever built and not many exist! ("See article at bottom of this page. ") Note: "Some of you are asking so yes it sold last week and we never were contacted by the buyer/non-paying bidder? So it is still available as per this auction. "These Scooters were only produced 1960 - 1965 . The previous owner said the Topper has been started within the last year; ("unverified"). who said it was his grandfathers and that he was the original original purchaser. He also stated he put a few parts on it to get it running. We in all fairness cannot verify this or much else about it's history. though we know the engine is free and feels like good compression when we pulled the starter coil. All the engine and drive train components all appear to be there. The Speedometer shows the low miles 75 miles which is certainly questionable?; (unverified odometer reading). "as the story goes it has been parked in a dry building for 50 years or so according to previous owner. " We brought it directly from the dry barn to our heated building where it will remain until the new owner arranges pick up. The frame is good. the chain and exhaust is in place and looks fine. You can see the fiberglass cracks on the engine cover the rest of the body is in good restore-able condition. The windshield is included in good condition as shown. I have many pictures up here to see what you are bidding on. This scooter has a clear Michigan title as shown. The scooter is waiting for what we think should be an easy restore! "Good luck in advance to the winner of this desirable rare classic. "Article from Wizbang Blue:"Few people know that Harley Davidson once produced a rare scooter model that sold from 1959 as a 1960 model until 1965. The Topper was the only scooter model ever produced by Harley and is certainly a real classic today. It featured a 9hp two stoke engine that required premixing oil and gas. The Topper's engine measured out at 165cc. and it featured an automatic CVT transmission. The bodywork was part stamped steel. part spray gun painted fiberglass. Only 3. 00 total Topper scooters were ever produced before production was suspended. It rates as one of the rarest Harley products ever built. "
