1947 Harley Davidson WL 45" Flathead

Great looking older restoration. Red paint has a few nicks and scratches. but it looks good overall. I purchased this 1947 WL from a collector who bought it in this condition back in 1998. He then spent over $4200 having the motor rebuilt at Cherokee Harley-Davidson. I have the 4 page detailed parts list and receipt for that work. He rode it very little and it has not been started for nearly 10 years. My plans were to get this back on the road. but as it will be awhile before I get to it. I thought I'd offer it here as is. We replaced the battery. drained the fluids and replaced the float and needle in the M-51 carburetor. Unfortunately. the ratchet gear slips badly when you kick it over and I cannot get enough of a crank on it to get it to fire. It sputters a bit. but there just isn't enough momentum to get it to go. I decided it's not worth blowing my knee out. So. the new owner will need to plan on correcting the transmission issue. Other issues to sort out are that the horn and lights don't currently work. If my low reserve is not met. I'll relist with a higher reserve after I've had a chance to get these issues sorted out. I'm offering it at a very low reserve and Buy it Now price. so there should be plenty of room for the next owner to put a little time and money in getting it back on the road. The bike has clean 47WL VIN and matching 47-5604 belly numbers Transmission is a 3 speed. There are obviously some repop parts as well as a lot of good originals. I believe the tank and fenders are original. Front fender is obviously a later model as used on the last WL's and some Servi-Cars. Rear fender looks original. but someone mounted the braces incorrectly. This stressed the lower rear fender around the rivets and there is some paint cracking there. Also a few paint blisters on the rear fender that I tried to show in the photos. There are a few other nicks and scratches. but overall it is still a sharp looking old machine. Tanks are clean inside. It has a reproduction CYCLERAY headlight. Speedometer looks original and is in very good condition. Take a look at the photos and you be the judge.
