This is an outstanding original Softail. one of the few remaining unmolested 1984 Softails of the 3. 07 that were made that year. This was the bike/model that turned things around for The Motor Company in 1984. It is the first year for the Softail and the Evolution Engine and last year for the 4-speed transmission. kick starter (also has electric starter). and chain drive. If you are a collector. maybe you need one of these for your collection. It is ready for display but probably not show quality. In my opinion it ranks up there with the KHK. Hydra-Glide. Electra-Glide and others as one of Harley's major steps forward. Two years after the Softail was introduced all the bikes produced in Japan offered V-Twin options with the Harley style. I've owned the bike for over 26 years and have kept it maintained as well as possible. This bike is all HARLEY. the way they should be. lotza chrome. a nice. nice lope at idle. a nice bark when the throttle is applied and you can FEEL the engine. It is a very. very strong runner. It still has the factory carburetor. Non-factory changes include: rear sprocket changed from 51 tooth to 48 for better cruising (remember in 1984 when this one was manufactured the national speed limit was 55. note the orange mark on the speedo in the picture at the 55 mark). during a top end overhaul years ago a mild cam upgrade was put in. mufflers were replaced with after market slash cut units. seat was replaced with a Mustang seat. Recently the ignition system was completely replaced with a non-factory unit and a new tire was put on the rear wheel. I have no idea if the square headlights are original or not. They were on the bike when I bought it in 1988 and I like them. They are especially bright for night riding. Were they possibly a factory option in 1984 and 1985??? I have the original owners manual as well as a shop manual for the bike and both will be included in the sale as will the original rear sprocket. i also have a framed poster of the bike if you would like that. This will be a CASH sale as I have title in hand and NO JOY rides. Buyer picks up in SE South Dakota. I will be reasonable on payment also. By that. I mean if you want to wire funds to my bank. when they say it's good. you can get bike. Hate to be that way but to many IDIOTs have ruined it for the honest folks. Therefore. no 0 feedback bids will be accepted unless you contact me before bidding. Payment & pickup expected within 15 days.
