97 Harley Sportster XL1200S Factory Performance Sport Model 2-ownerAll Original

This is one of the most unmolested 20 year old Sportster we've come across. It is in essentially the exact same configuration today as it was when it left the dealership in 1997 and what makes it even more special is it is the highly desirable 1200S model. This bike has had only 2-owners and less than 6. 00 miles under the wheels. The second owner purchased this bike from the original owner in 2007. He only rode it occasionally and kept it meticulously maintained. It has always been stored inside and is in phenomonal condition for its age. The 1200S model includes many features not found on ordinary 883 or 1200 models. The checker flag paint scheme/badging and basket weave seat vinyl are unique to this model. But. the most notable difference is in its fully adjustable performance suspension. The 1200S features nitrogen filled "piggyback" shocks in the rear and variable rate fork dampeners in the front. along with dual disc front brakes with floating rotors. Overall it's in great cosmetic condition. The sheet metal is all straight and the original factory paint shines nicely. With just under 5. 00 original miles and due to its relative scarcity this bike would make a nice entry-level collectable or a dependable daily rider that would never lose value if kept in good condition. Absolutely everything on this bike works as it should. Mechanically it is in excellent condition. It runs. rides and shifts smoothly through all gears. It has no oil leaks and no mechanical problems. It received a comprehensive fluid change and preventative maintenance at the dealer within the last 60 days. A new rear tire and battery were installed in the fall. The only thing on this bike that needs attention is the front tire. It is the original tire and is worn and weather cracked. I will install a brand new OE equivilent Dunlop replacement front tire if the bike is sold at the Buy it Now Price. The "Best Offer" option available for buyers who do not desire a new front tire.
