1940 Harley Davidson Knuckle Head

1940 Harley Davidson just found after 20+ years storage. Cleaned the carb and the points, fresh fluids and it fired right up. Runs and drives great. My guess is this bike was put together from parts back when you could find original Harley Davidson parts at swop meets. It has a late 37' or early 38' frame, fork and gas tanks. Later fenders, wheels and brakes. Nice original Cycleray head light (gold plated), Pan head spot lights, Joe Hunt magneto, Linkert carburetor, 6V generator, looks to be Buco leather saddlebags. There are only a very few reproduction parts like the dash, oil tank and speedo. The cases are the tall rib cases with a 40 VIN. Just a great rider.

I do not have a title for this motorcycle nor can I get one. Maine will not issue titles for vehicles that predate the title law. So what you will get is a notarized bill of sale and a Maine registration in my name. Check with your DMV before you bid if this causes you concern.
