Description

1968 SS250cc HARLEY DAVIDSON SPRINT made in Italy by the Aermacchi company which Harley was 51 percent owner from 1960 thru 1978. OK it would be easier and shorter to list whats not new or rebuilt but I will list everything REPLACED and or REBUILT with 99 percent with OEM new old stock parts(NOS)and related service. The bike was built in 2006 thru 2007 . I performed all the work except chroming of course . I painted it as well base coat clear coat and over the decals as wellit has the 68 wrinkle paint panel down the top of the gas tank and the 68 silver/grey fenders. The motorcycle has 120 miles on the new speedometer since build. I have 38+ years of professional Harley mechanic service dealership in the 70's80's and am a shop owner as well. I ate slept & breathed Aermacchi sprints for 5-6 years while building 5 models represented of what you see here and if this one does well I will bring out the others. I will be very honest with you so listen up although these are not high dollar Panhead's or Knuckles I have a lot invested at which I'm no fool thinking I would recover! But by auction end if I'm not pleased with the way its going I WILL END THE AUCTION EARLY. So aftermarket items (not oem) are spokes mirror key switch tire's muffler wire harness This bike of days gone by were owned and operated by riders that knew how to kick start a motorcycle cold or hot or flooded. Knew how to maintain a motorcycle especially a 6 volt system and were capable mechanics in themselves. If your only capable or interested in pushing a button on the handlebar thanks for looking see ya later. Same goes if you think your Harley department store will know what this is they won't. OK that out of the way the bike runs great and is FUN taking a break from a 800 lbs bike is surprisingly fun. Now its only a 250cc and were all used to our newer bikes but this is a freakin blast to ride around town you get use to what it can do and can't you'll find yourself day dreaming on it. Yes you will remember how to shift and brake opposite and if ya never did its like dating a chick from a different country its different but the same. Keep the 6 volt battery hot and it will start all the time. In 1972 my first bike was just this same model (not as nice). Of course I was young and dumb but I went everywhere on it . For those of us in our late fifties and older probably had a Sprint or knew someone in the neighborhood that did. Could be a sweet blast from the past in your garage. Shipping is up to you of course I do have a shop for ease of pickup . Enjoy and happy bidding
