1965 Harley Davidson Sportster

Up for sale is another bike from my collection a 1965 Sportster XLH. To begin with this one has perfect unaltered engine numbers with matching case half numbers. I bought this bike several years ago from a North Carolina State Patrol in a slightly different form than you see now. This is the first year of the 12 volt system. It retains the original frame (date code C5) also original rear wheel front fender buckhorn handlebars and the front end is the one that came on the bike but I have changed it over to XLCH style and had to put an accel rim on and stainless spokes. The oil tank steel oil lines tail light and tool box are original. Tool box was chrome and I had it stripped to steel and painted it. The cylinders are bored to .050 with new 9:1 pistons. The heads are completely rebuilt and the rocker boxes completely rebuilt. The top end has about 200 miles on it. I put a set of lightened tappets with the cast iron lifter blocks from a super CH in it in excellent condition with PB+ cams and new push rod covers. This set up should be trouble free for a long time. It has a direct drive engine sprocket as on a CH rather than a compensator a 71 Bendix carb a new Barnett wet clutch and a CH magneto with a new lock & keys. The lower end and transmission needed nothing but new seals and gaskets It was a very low mileage bike. The bike has been totally rewired with heat shrink on everything a guide 55 tail light new brake light switch and a nikko horn. It comes with the original owners manual and warranty book (pictured). As the title says they only built 955 XLHs in 1965 and quite a few of them don't exist anymore. I'm not claiming this to be a restoration as others would but it's a pretty nice bike. I built this bike to keep and that's why It is set up as a CH but health reasons are causing me to sell off some things. I've been certified by the factory for 35yrs. so please ask any questions.
