Here's a 1970 Harley XLCH Sportster project. It has matching #'s and is mostly complete. I was told that it was in a flood but I don't know details. The motor is stuck and the previous owner started taking the front rocker box off and that's as far as he got. I haven't investigated any further. It looks to be in pretty decent condition considering. The clutch pulls very easy and it shifts through all the gears without a problem. The bike rolls easily and both front and rear brakes work. You can see some gunk in the intake. It should be expected that the bike needs a motor rebuild, t least the top end that is stuck.
I have a carb in pieces that goes with the bike. The seat pictured is just sitting on the bike. Not stock but I thought it looked good on it. It is missing the footpegs, nd the front pipe. In some of the detail shots you can see the chainguard, ut I have since taken it off for another bike. The bike has some little stock pieces that are often missing like the wiring connectors and brackets. It has Progressive shocks and a new kicker arm. The rear fender/ taillight is a later post '72 model. The tank looks OEM and is pretty good inside. The fork tubes look pretty good and would probably be useable with new seals. The wheels are in decent shape and most of the discoloration on the rear you see is grease, hich has kept the chrome in pretty good shape. There is some rust though, n the spokes and rims. All in all, good base for a restoration, r a chopper, obber, racker, hatever project. If I keep it I am going to build a KR replica dirt track bike. I have a Sporty Specialties looped hardtail that can go with the bike for another $300.
I don't have paperwork for the bike but here in NY is is easy to get a registration for a pre '73, r you could always go through VT and have it in 2 weeks. I just did that for a '77 CB750.
I have a truck and might be able to help with local delivery within reason. I am working a lot over the next month so I won't have time during business hours to drop the bike at a shipper, ut can assist if you set up shipping and have the shipper pick the bike up here in Kingston, Y.
Feel free to contact me about setting up a viewing for the bike. It is for sale locally so I do reserve the right to cancel the auction early if it sells. I might even be tempted into a trade for another vintage bike, specially XS650's, B/ CL450's, riumphs, ther Sportsters, hovelhead frame/ motor/ projects, intage chopper parts...
A $500 paypal deposit is due within 48 hours of the auction's end, nd the rest in cash upon pick up. I'd like the bike picked up within a week. I need the room in my garage.
Thanks for looking and feel free to ask questions!
