Description

1918 era Harley Davidson, nbsp;Arlen Ness retro.

This is an Arlen Ness styled motorcycle to look like a 1918 era motorcycle. It has all modern running components but the style and look of a 1918 era motorcycle.

The engine is a 1200 cc HD Sportster with 5 speed transmission; Arlen Ness provided the following components: chrome-moly light weight frame; cast aluminum gas tank; brake calipers, otors, evers; wheels; rear sprocket and drive belt; Pacho springer front end; fenders; headlamp. The remaining components were from different catalogue suppliers or custom made. Frame is powder coated, aint is by fabricator. It has all street legal components including turn signals. It is licensed and titled in the state of Washington.

Bike is essentially new with only 200 – 300 miles on it which were clocked in the past two years, actually it has no speedometer, o this is a guess].

History: the bike was built by my father, longtime vintage motorcycle enthusiast [had an old Indian Hillclimber and a ‘48 HD in his younger days]. In around 1999, e decided he wanted a vintage era bike but with modern running components which started, eliable, topped and had available parts. He went to visit Arlen Ness and Arlen had just the components needed. Arlen provided the parts listed and advised him how to build it. My dad built it between 2000 – 2002. I watched, o am familiar with its fabrication. When he finished it, took it to the local HD dealer and had them do a safety check and see if it was all put together correctly. They said he did a great job but needed longer throttle cables, o they replaced the cables. Thus, t was ready to go. However, y dad was getting along in years and never got to ride it before he passed. It then sat in my living room for 10 – 11 years, guess as a memorial because I couldn’t part with it. Eventually, n 2012 it was time to let it go, o I sold it to a serous HD rider for his fun ride. He took it to another local HD dealer for service and safety check and they said all was well. So he began to ride it for fun events. He lives on one of the islands so he mainly rode it around the island.

The new owner entered it in the local Vintage Motorcycle Enthusiast annual meet on Vashon Island and it won the people’s choice, ven though it wasn’t truly a vintage bike. [Note the tank says Hardley 1918, ecause it isn’t really a 1918.] It attracts attention wherever it goes. This year he needed to replace his daily rider, n Electro Glide, o I bought it back. However, cannot ride it and cannot keep it in my living room any longer either. Therefore, nbsp;it is time to sell it.

My reserve is $9,200, bout the price of an engine and tranny these days. I believe my dad had about $19,000 in it in 2002 and Arlen will build you one for $40,000+, o I think it is worth the $9200 reserve, am not trying to get rich. Buyer responsible for pick up and shipping arrangements and costs. I cannot deliver it anywhere. Asking for a $500 deposit to show you are serious. I can hold it for a while in a garage if the deposit is received.
