WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF THE 1998 MODEL LINES, ARLEY INTRODUCED THE FLTR ROAD GLIDE. THIS WAS USING THE SAME FRAME AND MOTOR ASSEMBLY AS THE ELECTRA GLIDE, S BEFORE, UT WITH A COMPLETELY REDESIGNED FAIRING. IT INCLUDED THE RADIO AND GAUGES MOUNTED IN THE FAIRING IN AREAS THAT WERE MADE FOR THIS PURPOSE. THIS INNER AND OUTER FAIRING HAS NOT CHANGED FOR THE ENTIRE PRODUCTION RUN OF THE ROAD GLIDE. FROM 1998 TO PRESENT IT HAS REMAINED THE SAME.

THE 1998 HARLEY-DAVIDSON FLTRI ROAD GLIDE HEARKENED BACK TO THE FLT OF THE 1980S. IT CAN BE EASILY DIFFERENTIATED BY ITS HALF FAIRING FITTED WITH DUAL HEADLAMPS. LIKE HARLEY'S OTHER TOURING MODELS, HE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER RESIDE IN A FAIRING-MOUNTED INSTRUMENT PANEL INSTEAD OF ATOP THE FUEL TANK. ALSO INCLUDED ARE AN AM/FM STEREO CASSETTE, OLTMETER, IL-PRESSURE GAUGE, LOCK, ND FUEL GAUGE. THE FLTRI'S LUGGAGE SPACE AND FAIRING-HOUSED INSTRUMENT PANEL WERE AIMED AT THE TOURING MARKET. BUYERS HAVE A CHOICE OF FEEDING THE 80-CUBIC-INCH V-TWIN THROUGH A CARBURETOR OR FUEL-INJECTION UNIT, HE LATTER BEING AN OPTION THAT DELIVERS ALMOST 10 PERCENT MORE TORQUE (THIS BIKE IS FUEL INJECTED).

THIS 1998 HARLEY-DAVIDSON FLTRI ROAD GLIDE IS IN OVERALL EXCELLENT CONDITION FOR IT'S AGE. THE BIKE RUNS AND SHIFTS PERFECTLY AND HAS NO MECHANICAL FAULTS. THERE IS A SMALL BLEMISH ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE GAS TANK (PICTURED IN AD). INDEPENDENT INSPECTIONS ARE WELCOME AND ENCOURAGED.
