The FLSTS Heritage Springer was introduced in 1997 as a replacement for the FLSTN Heritage Softail. Unlike the FXSTS Softail Springer, he FLSTS Heritage Springer came with a 16 inch front wheel rather than the 21 inch. It also came with saddlebags with fringe, hitewalls, ishtail mufflers, nd passing lamps as an effort to give it the look of a '48 FL Panhead. The '97-'99 models years had an Evolution motor with a 5-speed transmission. These were mated with the traditional closed primary chaincase. The Evolution was 80 cubic inches(1340 cc) and used a dual fire ignition which fired both the cylinders at the same time regardless of the fact that one piston would not be at the optimal compression stroke. Only carbs were available and the gas tanks were split with a 4.2 gallon capacity.
