96 cu in (1,584 cc) with Twin Cam meaning One cam per cylinder, ach with 2 lobes. This allows the push rods to be better aligned with the rocker arms. TheHarley-Davidson Twin Cam enginesaremotorcycle enginesmade byHarley-Davidsonsince 1998. Although these engines differed significantly from theEvolution engine, hich in turn was derived from the series of singlecamshaft,overhead valvemotors that were first released in 1936, hey share a number of characteristics with nearly allprevious Harley-Davidson engines. Both engines have twocylindersin aV-twinconfiguration at 45°, reair-cooled(some touring models use liquid cooling for the heads), nd activate valves withpush-rods. Thecrankshaftshave a single pin with a knife and fork arrangement for theconnecting rods. These are sandwiched between a pair offlywheels.TheTwin Cam 88was released for the 1999 model year in September 1998.TheTwin Cam 96was released for the 2007 model year.
