Description

: Harley-Davidson, 946, nucklehead, lack and Chrome.
Odometer Reading: Odometer reads 28225 miles. There have been 39 miles put on the bike since restoration.
Engine: Originally an EL. It had a previous conversion to FL. I saw no reason to change it back. Cylinders have been bored perpendicular to base. Decks on engine case wherecylinders mount have been re-milled parallel to main shaft. Flywheels have been balanced.
Electrics: Generator is a 1948 police fan-cooled. This generator will supply enough amperage to power headlight and spot lights and still charge battery. Headlight is a sealed beamthat was used on springers 1949 and later. (I have bulb type headlight if new owner wants it). Ignition parts are 1949 and later. This was done because these points are easier to install. (I have the parts for the old type points if the new owner wants them.) Coil is a Harley-Davidson 6-volt that was made in the style of the 1965 12-volt. Wiring is mostly modern-day automotive, ith soldered terminals. This was done to avoid the corrosion that formswith crimped terminals.
Wheels: Hubs are original, ainted black, itted with bearings and packed with Mystik grease. Spokes are original with new cadmium plating. Rims are New Old Stock that still hadHarley-Davidson stickers on them, art number 3940-40. Tires are NOS Goodyear, ith black wall on rear and white wall on front. Tire and wheel assemblies have been balanced.
Gearing: Engine sprocket is two teeth over, nd transmission is one tooth over stock for today's highway speeds. Engine sprocket has been I.D. ground for precise taper andconcentricity.
Seats: New owner can have his choice of solo seat or buddy seat that has been redone in the 1947 style. Seat post is from 1958. This seat post gives a little stiffer ride, ut makes iteasier to swing your leg over the saddle. (I have an original seat post if the new owner wants it.)
Windshield: Windshield is a narrow custom, ith custom mounting.
Gas Tanks: Tanks did not leak, ut I put sealer in them anyway. Right tank has a dent worked out, nd there is a thin skim of bondo on that area.
Paint: Black epoxy has been put on tanks and fenders. Black powder-coat has been put of frame. Paint job is nice, ut perhaps not quite professional. I'm a machinist, ot a painter.
I built this bike for the road, ot to win some judging contest. I want to sell it to someone who will ride it and appreciate it.
