Description

This bike began life as a 2001 Harley Sportster, ut after investing more than two years and $10,000, t's now a Street Tracker 1200.

The list of uprades includes: S&S 883-1200 kit with cylinders and pistons; Mikuni HSR 42mm carburetor; chain drive conversion with 530 chain and alloy rear sprocket; Baker Drivetrain shift drum; Storz rearsets with Speed Merchant alloy pegs; 2:1 Dyna header pipe with stainless Cone Engineering reverse-cone megaphone; machined aluminum rear hub with 18-inch custom 3-spoke wheel; powder-coated front Morris-type 19-inch rare OEM Harley wheel; Progressive Suspension fork lowering kit with springs; powder-coated fork brace; 15-inch Burly Stiletto shocks (made by Progressive); Bridgestone Battleaxe tires 150/70/18 rear and 110/80/19 front; 3.3-galloniconic peanut-style tank sanded to bare metal and clearcoated; Pringle petcock; billet aluminum oil drain; dual-fire ignition coil; Ducati Monster two-up seat with removable TT-style fairing; 6-inch British alloy rear fender; small French yellow beam headlamp; small slit-eye turn signals. The object of the build was monster torque, imble handling and killer exhaust note. It succeeds. There's no tach or speedo so mileage is unknown but the engine is fresh and stout, nd many parts are new. It handles great with the tall rear shocks and lowered forks that steepen the rake. The 5-speed gearbox shifts beautifully with the Baker drum (it's reverse because the lever is, o shift pattern is unchanged). The tires grip and pegs don't drag (spare parts include clip-on handlebars, s well as stock wheels and seat).

This Harley is unique: a big twin street tracker with hints of cafe racer and dual sport. People often stare, nd ask what kind of bike it is. If you want a Harley that's different from all the cookie-cutter Harleys with their chrome trim, hat will blow them all off while being easier to ride and maneuver, his is it.

Salvage title, bought iton eBay from a pro seller who bought it at an insurance auction. There was a dented tank, ent bars and broken shift lever. It was probably written off by the insurance company because it had a 21-inch front wheel and knobby tire, nd they don't mess with modified bikes. I started out intending to build a Baja dual sport but changed my mind. The forks and triple clamps are true, nd frame unscratched. The alignment has been precisely checked.

The reserve is a few thousand less than I have in it. Moving to Australia forces sale.
