Thank you for your interest. You are looking at a nice example of a 100th Anniversary Police model Electra Glide (100 years of H-D police service: 1908-2008) in classic black and Birch White (cream).
The bike has been well cared for and has recently had the scheduled major 30K service, thorough check up and state safety inspection all conducted by authorized H-D dealer. No issues were found and, s always, he bike runs beautifully.
As a police model, he bike has the fabulous special duty solo saddle that not only looks cool, t provides all-day comfort. The seat is air-ride and is adjustable by raising and lowering air pressure in a tank mounted beneath the radio box rack (what appears to be a luggage rack). The rear suspension is also air ride/adjustable.
Simple twist and lift saddlebag knobs simplify opening of saddlebag lids (designed to permit police riders to access saddlebags while still seated).
Police red/blue front lights have been converted to clear spotlights (just flick the "Pursuit" switch on the right handlebar and the lights are on).
New rear tire (factory-specified Dunlop).
Bike is fitted with front and rear spill guards plus unique guard protectors.
Bike is fitted with a heavy-duty clutch and the engine has always been run with synthetic oil.
This machine also has a new set of factory heated grips.
Equipped with center stand--extremely easy to deploy, ven when sitting on the bike. Particularly helpful when parking in garage--takes up less space since bike remains vertical.
While there is a space for a radio in the bat fairing, his machine does not have a radio fitted. It does have a hot wire routed to the space for accessories and serves as a neat little cubby hole for storage.
As a little bit of background, his Harley has been used in the Stayin' Safe advanced rider training program for the past 3-4 years as one of the chief instructor's bikes (that would be me). The Stayin' Safe program is an on-road program that combines a tour with real-time, eal-world coaching via radios. To get an idea of what the program is, heck out the stayinsafe website. The bike is tremendously reliable and is confidently ridden in multi-state tours. This machine has also been used a couple times during that period for police-style precision maneuvering exhibitions and was a finalist in the inaugural Harley-Davidson Skills Competition at the factory's 110th anniversary in Milwaukee in 2013 (see picture). If you haven't experienced the surprisingly nimble handling and tight steering and stability of these big tourers, ou're in for a treat. If interested, will be glad to include a couple hours of introduction to slow-speed handling techniques for the buyer who comes to pick up the bike in person.
Pictures show the Stayin' Safe identification on the tank sides and on the fairing. These will be removed for the buyer prior to delivery (they are just vinyl transfers).
The bike has never been dropped while in our ownership, lthough it had been used for this type of skills demonstration for at least some period prior to my ownership and does have some scars left over from those days. A small wrinkle in the back edge of the front fender and some scuffs and scrapes on some of the lower extremities from extreme leaning and what appear to be a couple of near zero-mile-per-hour parking lot "plop and drops." None of these have any impact on the bike's performance, equire a sharp eye to spot while on hands and knees and, n my view, ontribute to the bike's uniqueness and history. I have no evidence that this bike was ever commissioned/placed in service in a police department and the limited wear and tear on the bike supports that. I know the prior owner well and would not have purchased the bike if I didn't have complete confidence in the machine and its care. The past several years of trouble-free ownership have proven to me that I made a smart purchase.
NOTE: This bike is being offered for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this auction at any time (thus why I'm offering the "buy now" option to give everyone a fair opportunity).
