Up for sale is my 1973 Harley FLH Electraglide. I purchased this bike many years ago in Detroit. It was supposedly a Detroit City police bike, ut I have no proof of that. I then spent two years rebuilding the bike from ground up back in the early 2000's..
I completely disassembled it. The frame was blasted and powdercoated. I used some of the original parts, ut goal was to built a functional reliable Shovel, o any parts not in top condition were replaced by either NOS, sed or new parts as required. Rear fender is original. Front fender is brand new Harley. I converted the fuel tank from troublesome early tanks to modern five gallon Softail rubber mounted tanks, ost people would not even notice. The front forks are later model 41 mm FLH forks, ith single caliper disc brake and a HD floating rotor for real stopping power. The rear brake is a brand new GMA rear disc caliper. Both front and rear wheels are modern high quality chrome wire wheels, ith rear tire being 3.5 inch Metzler tires. Handlebars are FLH style, ith 82 & up controls and master cylinder for modern reliable switches. Stock nacelle and spot lights, ll powdercoated black to maintain Police bike heritage. Oil tank powdercoated black with FLH logo.
All sheet metal professionally painted a nice Silver, gain to maintain Police Bike heritage. Saddlebags are stock Harley with new keys and metal. Seat is a Mustang solo, ith separate passenger seat when needed. Includes a beaded windshield for the nostalgic look. Battery is FXE style for less interference on right leg. Horn is loud aftermarket air horn.
4 Speed Transmission was completely rebuilt with heavy duty transmission case and all Andrews gears. Shifts better than any original shovel. Primary now has a belt drive, nside the stock case. Now for the best part. The original engine case had some damage, nd back at the time I built it you could still purchase a brand new case from HD, s long as you sent them your case. So, he engine starts with a brand new HD case, ith correct VIN number to match the frame and title. I then purchased almost ALL internal components with S&S brand new parts, troked and dual plug heads. The rocker covers and timing cover are OEM HD, ut most of the engine is S&S. The engine is worth over $6000 alone in new parts. Ignition is Dyna Dual Plug Head ignition. Carb is a HD CV Carb, ith stock ham can cleaner (not in the photos).
The engine has never been run. It is a brand new S&S engine built into a factory HD brand new case.Exhaust system is a 2 into 1 header, nto a 3 inch Khromeworks FLH style muffler with fishtail end cap.
The whole story of my ownership of this bike is long, nd if interested, can explain it and all the details of the build. I put 15,000 miles on the bike before I built this new engine. At one time I sold it to a friend, nd he never rode it, nd now I have it back since he is out of motorcycles. While I love Shovelheads, have reached a point in my life that my interests have changed. My Road King suffices to provide me my riding time, o I am interested in selling this fine machine I am proud of.
This motorcycle is for the person who understands that this is NOT a stock Harley, uilt with the best parts, nd is a reliable modern version of a 73 FLH. I have over $20,000 in this bike, ot to mention several years of labor.
