Offered here is a very rare, 996 Harley-Davidson FXSTSB Bad Boy in Vivid Black with Yellow tank highlights.

The Bad Boy was only produced for three model years, rom 1995-1997 with a complete production run across all three years of 8,346 units. Of those, nly 1,058 were in the Black / Yellow paint scheme displayed here.

What makes this bike unique among other Harley models is that it was one the first Big Twin to use the “blacked out” look by using many blacked out pieces in place of the traditional chrome. Starting with the front end, he springer front end girders are coated in gloss black powder coat while the shock and springs under the headlight offer a nice contrasting chrome. On top of the forks, lack handlebar risers clamp on to a pair of dirt track style handlebars. On top of the tank, he center tank console is finished in gloss black as well which blends in nicely with the Vivid Black fuel tank. Under the rider, he oil reservoir is also finished with black powder coat and rounding out the blacked out theme is a pair of black fender supports. Combined with the black frame and black and chrome motor, arley tipped the balance of black and chrome far towards the black like never before.

Many bikes seek to be a “factory custom” but with tens of thousands produced, ost cannot live up to that claim. The FXSTSB Bad Boy, ith its very limited production run, ill always be a factory custom in every sense of the word and you would be hard pressed to find another bike like this no matter how far you might like to travel with your ride.

This particular bike has 31,189 miles on the odometer and the bike, hile not absolutely perfect in appearance, s in excellent condition for being 20 years old and having travelled so extensively. The painted surfaces are ding and dent free with some minor surface scratches typical of Vivid Black. The original wheels, laced front followed by a chrome slotted solid rear are in excellent condition and have had new OEM Dunlops added less than 500 miles ago.

While the bike retains most of its original parts, revious owners have added some tasteful accessorization. Giving this Bad Boy a sound that lives up to its name is a set of Vance & Hines Big Radius dual exhaust. On the other end of the engine is a Precision Billet Darkside air cleaner which combined with the V&H exhaust and proper rejetting of the carburetor lets the 1340 CC Evolution engine breathe, un and sound like it should. The turn signals have been changed to minimize them visually size wise, ut still signal properly to let others know about your upcoming turns. Front and rear brake calipers have been changed to GMA Engineering Billet Aluminum pieces, hich add a nice clean look to compliment the factory floating brake rotors, first for Harley-Davidson in 1996. A Genuine Harley-Davidson Badlander seat has been added for style and comfort and the accessorization is rounded out with G2 Quarter Turn handgrips and matching footpegs.
