1967 Harley-Davidson FLHB
History of this “67” FL This 1967 Harley-Davidson FLHB has an assembly date of Feb . 7, 967. It was ordered at Mandan Harley-Davidson in North Dakota. Ordered in Birch White, ith some special features ordered on police/parade bikes. The first owner was a Shriner/Police officer and intended to use the bike for escort and parades. Sold to 2nd owner in Stanto, ND. in 1978 with just over 1200 mi. on the OD. The 2nd owner had the heads reworked for unleaded gas, rimary belt drive,a”76” model white seat, airing, nd tour-pack and states the bike “never let me down “ . He had the bike repainted (in 1978) after a front tire blow out caused a little fender damage . The bike was” birch white” and was repainted “White over the orig. white” with a “high quality” job and nice subtle pin stripping in blue, ith clear coat. The bike still wears this paint, nd it shows great. The “67” was always stored in a heated garage/house when not being used. In 1983 he purchased a “new “Harle, nd the “67” was retired to a spare room in his house! Bike has the ND lics. plate (included)showing 1983 as its last yr. of reg./renewal until it was sold to 3rd owner. In 1999 the “67” was sold to a predominate“ Harley “ collector in North Dakota with just under 9000 orig. mi. on the OD. It was rode a few miles,(fairing and scissor seat removed and stock seat reinstalled) then “placed in his personal museum” collection . This collector prides his collection on “orig. paint” bike, and in 2005 he wanted to replace this “67” with another 1967 “orig. paint” bike(but not as “nice” IMO). That’s when I had the chance to acquire the “67” with around 9700 mi. on the OD. At that time it was lisc./plated in Montan, ith 98XX orig. miles listed on the title. I have fully serviced the bike, nd ride it now and then just to keep it in serviceable cond. This 1967 FLH has spent most of its life in climate controlled surroundings and being pampered by “seasoned” riders(sounds better then old guys?) And it shows in the present condition of the “67”! Current Condition: At this time the “67” has 10515 mi. the OD. And is stored in my climate controlled buildin, ith some of my other motorcycles.. The bike remains in close to its original condition with exception of the “newer repaint” mentioned above. All orig. T3 lights, uide light, ank emblems (FOX), as caps (Eaton), rig. air cleaner with orig. copper filter, nbsp;ect . At this time the “67” sports a “mint” vintage S&S Super B carb.(a common upgrade in the 70’s). The orig. Tilotson (now rebuilt and stored ) is include, nd I can replace the S&S with it if desired. Last year I replaced the 35+ yr. old Speed Grip tires & Goodyear tubes with “ period type” repo’s of the speed grips. (I did’nt feel to safe on the old tires at 70 mph. ) Also, eplaced the orig. rear chain. I had planned on taking this bike on a few AMCA road run, but as of yet have’nt found the time. All and any orig. parts go with the “67” including the tires/tubes (tires still look good, ut are pretty” hard”) Big improvement in ride/handling and braking with new “Retro “tires! As stated; the “67” was ordered with a few special extras. A few of which are:50002-58A jiffy stand assembly( police with weld on pad) all stock OEM cond.
49400-59A center stand (AKA service stand)
49038-58A front safety guard
34692-65 heel & toe shifter
62516-63 oil tank (chrome)
65242-67 mufflers(extra quiet 2) description in parts catalog from 1967 (included with bike)
Saddle bag, nd tour pak.
Large wind shield .
A 2 page list of other “options” and Harley-Davidson “add- on’s”. “ALL” of which are shown and listed in the Harley-Davidson Orig. 67 parts catalog, r the Orig. Harley-Davidson Accessories catalogs from 1967,1968 ( catalogs included with the bikes paper work & history). “NO NON-HARLEY ADD - ONS OR ACCESSORIES!” or REPOP’s (please see notes below)
This “67” retains all most all its orig. parts as it arrived from the factory. Cases never split/orig. pistons, am, wireing , ct ! Only the heads have been reworked as stated for “lead-free” gas. All add on parts/install/service until 1999 are from the Harley-Davidson dealer in Mandan, D. “HD dealer tag” on tour- pa, nd orig. vintage dealer key fob. THE ONLY EXCEPTIONS ARE : New tires, S&S Super B carb, drive chain, ecently done. And belt primary (added by dealer at time of head /valve and valve guide upgrade) and the White Solo Seat (Harley part # 52006-47AW which was available in 1967 in Harley’s Acces. Cat. ) BUT THIS SOLO SEAT IS A CORBIN/GENTRY I added so I did’nt have to use the OEM Orig. Buddy seat. BOTH SEATS INCLUDED! The OEM Speed Grip tires and Goodyear tubes, ld chain, rig. Tilotson , ir cleaner/copper filter, nbsp;ect. all are included with the bike. Making it 95% Orig. Harley-Davidson! (remember the repaint)
The WINDSHIELD PLASTIC has been replaced with aftermarket plastic (V-Twin) But the hardware/ frame are the Orig. and retains the Orig. Harley Davidson tag on windshield frame. Pics also show 2 windshield, ne is the OEM with replace plastic, he other is a National repop that I use when riding ! BOTH WINDSHIELDS GO WITH THE BIKE !
