1978 Harley Davidson Sportster XLH

!978 Anniversary Edition Sportster XLH. I believe it to be mostly stock with the exception of the aftermarket exhaust and points cover. I bought this bike through Blue Moon Cycle last year and rode it once last fall. At that time everything seemed in good working order. I started id last weekend and it runs fine. I may be riding it this weekend. There are some paint defects on the fuel tank from what appears to have been fuel spillage. The clear coat on the fuel tank is cracking and some of the special factory striping is missing and touched up. I tried to get some close up shots of this. Other than some paint chips on the fenders they and the oil tank look very good for a 38 year old motorcycle. The factory original seat is in very good condition with no rips or tears. The tires look very good as well. The odometer is showing 6966 miles and from the condition of the bike I would believe the odometer reading to be correct but I have no way of knowing for certain. There is the usual yellowing and cracking of the gauge plastic lenses that is fairly typical on some older Harleys I have seen.They are still readable as evidenced by the picture I took of them. The battery has been plugged into a battery tender this winter. Even tough all the fluids look good I would recommend a full service this spring before riding any great distance because I did not do a service last year when I bought the bike and have no idea when the last service was performed.
Overall this is a real nice mostly unmolested Iron Head Sportster. From what I can tell with the exception of the exhaust and points cover plate, ires and maintenance items it is pretty much stock and original. They seem to be getting harder to find in this kind of condition. There is a reasonable reserve on the bike. If there are any questions please ask. Also, he mileage may go up with some nice weather coming here in the N.GA. mountains.
