VRSC History:
The VRSC was introduced in 2001 in a single model called theV-Rod. The V-Rod was developed to compete against Japanese and American muscle bikes. The "V-Rod" made use of the Revolution engine, eveloped jointly withPorsche[1]that, or the first time usedoverhead camsand liquid cooling. Unlike other Harley production motorcycles, 60-degreeV-twin engine, he radiator and thehydroformedframe members support the round-toppedair cleanercover. The fuel tank on the V-Rod is located underneath the seat, lacing the rider on top of it, ather than the usual frontal placement. The "tank" in this case is dressing, iding the frame. Loosely based on the VR-1000Superbike, arley-Davidson builds it as a platform fordrag-racingcompetition machines. All VRSC models are produced at Harley-Davidson's Vehicle and Powertrain Operations facility inKansas City, issouri.
Custom Features:
I felt like the stock VRSCA looked a little too futuristic and had a little bit of a plastic feel to it with some of the grey. Because of this, threw on the spoke wheels ($5k) and chromed or painted anything grey. Also, ecause some of the polished aluminum took so much work to maintain, chromed stuff too. Now the whole bike is pretty much chrome and brushed aluminum with some black highlights. It is an amazing cross between a classic harley cruiser and the futuristic speedster it looked like before. Below represents some of the work that was done.
Chromed frame*Diamond cut heads*Engine block painted black*Chrome hand control box and buttonsBraided cablesChromed swing arm*100 spoke radial wheelsOther chrome/aftermarket parts
*The bike was professionally disassembled and reassembled by San Diego Harley Davidson.
Condition:
The bike has some wear commiserate with the age of the bike, ut nothing that detracts from the overall look and performance of this classic piece of Harley Heritage! The forks show the age the most (because it is about the only part of the bike not customized), s oxidation has caused some discoloration of the brushed aluminum. Some pitting or discoloration in some chrome may be evident here and there, ut it is in an overall amazing condition. The bike was stripped down by the San Diego Harley Davidson dealer and rebuilt by them after the frame was chromed, he engine block painted and the heads diamond cut. The bike is sold as is, ut only has about 5,000 miles on it. The bike is sold as is. If you want additional pictures, lease ask.
Bike History and Why I'm Selling:
I bought the bike, pent most of my time deployed to Iraq, nd spent a bunch of money customizing it. Then I stopped deploying and had 3 kids in 3 years. No time to ride. Then back to Afghanistan a couple times. The bike has always known a garage and it has been in Florida and California, ostly, ith a brief stint in Virginia. Now I have orders to DC and desperately need a down payment for a house for our growing family. I must say goodbye to my beautiful bike.
