Description

Before you read further, lease recognize this is a collector grade HD. If you are looking for a typical rider there are many bikes to choose from for half the price, his one is not for you.
I'm looking for one of two customers:
1.) An ardent collector that is looking for a concourse and show winning motorcycle in pristine condition.
OR
2.) Someone that wants that "new bike" experience that you get to break it in, ake it yours, tc.
This gorgeous bike was bought for my pre-life crisis. I was 21, was thwarted by a girl, could afford I bike and wanted to cruise the country for awhile. The bike was so in demand the year that I purchased it there was a 6 month wait for this model and you paid over retail. I bought it from Illinois Harley Davidson in Berwyn, L from a salesperson named "Bones" for just shy of $19,000 new on or around 4th of July, 998.
I loved it, did cruise the country for 4636 miles in the summer of 1998 between July 4th and September 30th. I then mothballed the bike and began a life nationwide consulting from Illinois, lorida, Y, alifornia, ashington and a lot of places in between. The bike was mothballed in its climate controlled cocoon and each year I'd do the same ritual: Dream of riding it again, eplace the fluids, etail the bike, eplace the gel battery that goes bad sitting, heck tire pressure, ove the bike so it doesn't get any flat spots on the tread, tc. Every 5 years I'd move the bike to another location thinking I would ride it there only I never had time. The bike has been hauled across the entire country by enclosed transport 4 or 5 times. Considering I've put exactly a half mile on the bike in the past 15+ years it is time to sell it.
I still think it's the most beautiful Harley made in the past 50 years and collectors agree.
The bike was recently completely gone over. Carb cleaned. Lines flushed. All fluids changed. Bike cleaned yet again. Leather conditioned. New battery installed yet again. In all, 1250.00 in proper service done to the bike in past two weeks so it is ready for the road.
For the collector: It has only HD accessories on it and absolutely NO aftermarket or third party stuff. Chrome front hub wings. Second passenger seat with quick release seat back. (They sell for a $1000 presently), hrome headlight visors and more. Chrome highway bars front and rear. Original fishtail pipes. No mechanical modifications, o carb jet alterations, o screaming eagle bastardizations, his is a pure collector hog!
This is the lowest mileage FLSTS from 1998 offered for sale in years. Many sell for $12,000-$13,000 with 18,000-30,000 miles on eBay and elsewhere (Note one offered at $12,900 with DOUBLE the miles of mine on ebay presently) but none with this low mileage, ne owner, ristine example. Black and Red was considered the most desirable and beautiful paint color and it was offered for one year only. The red and black leather accessories were only offered 1997-1998.
PM or call 847-833-one for two two for more info. Scammers and "how much in hundred dollar bills" callers need not waste their time. I'm a collector of fine vehicles so please don't waste each other's time telling me what bluebook values are for average examples. This is the finest known example of this model, olor and year and therefore is priced very fairly.
Condition report: One piece of chrome on the bike (chain cover) was flawed from the beginning and shows signs of light flecking. All decals and warning stickers are fully affixed to the bike and have no lifted off whatsoever. The bike has never seen rain or inclement weather. That is a complete description as far as the bike's condition is concerned. It is 99.9% new condition. It could use a proper buff/polish of all metal parts prior to entry in a major competition. I'm unaware of any 20 year old vintage Harley with this low of miles or this high of condition other than those in the HD museum in Milwaukee.
This is your opportunity to own the best of the best.
If you don't like the bike and believe it is 100% as represented when you get here, 'll give you your deposit back.
I won't ship the bike but I'll pick you up at the airport if you want to fly in and ride home OR I'll work with your shipper AFTER purchase. (Again, oreign shipping scammers where I receive bad cashiers check...move along)
I'll accept cash or cashiers check drafted from a Chase Bank so I can go to my local bank and immediately verify that the check is good before you leave with the bike.
Selling the bike after all this time because I have small children and will not ride a motorcycle again until they are grown.
If you have any questions, sk away.
UPDATE: I have all the original paperwork. The bike's bill of sale new was $22,374.98 out the door on July 3rd, 998. This did not include the highway bars front and rear, he headlight visors, he front wheel hub wings or other accessories from HD. Also included are both original keys (one unused) and all other documentation on the bike.
I MAY (no promises here) have the come along straps and disposable cover from the shipping crate that came from the HD factory. I MAY have some additional accessories in boxes and if I can find them, will give them to the buyer at my discretion.
Lastly: I've provided my phone contact for you to ask questions. 847-833-one four two two. Happy to text or ebay message with you also.
