1988 HARLEY-DAVIDSON BLUE

Hi and welcome to my listing for a stunning example of a late 80's 1200 sportster please bare with me with the story on why the millage is so low (13000 ish)Ive not to long owned this i bought it from a guy i met at my local workshop he had owned it for 3 ish years (only covering less than a 200 miles) previous to him owning it a old chap had owned it for 18 years or so. He bought it when he retired and customised it to what it is today unfortantly the old chap passed away and then it was sold as part of his will. While the famly had sold it they couldnt find any docs for it what so ever or spare parts and the sdeedo was changed to suit the new bars the only proof of the millage is what his wife said he had done by the sounds of it was very very little!So i thought id try and do some research to see what i could find out the only thing dvla could tell me is how long he had owned it the last 2 mots only went back to the last owner so really the only info i could find out was when it was taxed! The tax last expired in march 2013 and before that it was feb 1998 so this was telling he had really not used it much at all this old chap must have just love cleaning it as for the guy i bought it from not so much.

There was some more owners but they looked like garages!

So although theres no paper proof of the millage im reassured that it would be around the 13000 ish mark the current speedo is showing 2060 ish.

Now the reason why i bought it was because i wanted to make it a old skool bobber hard tail it springer front end however it will be some years before i could even start it (already mid project with one and baby due in 5 weeks) so shes up for sale she needs to be used im not desprate to sell her so wont be going cheap and just be covered over in the garage.

Right a little about the bike the overall condtion is very good however does have some very small storage marks and the front mud guard needs replating/painting or replacing! Wants a few tubes of chrome polish and a few hours then the ali work would be glimming again!

When i bought it it didnt have a mot so i gave it a motor service plugs/oil n filter/carb stripped and cleaned the battery was shot as well so got a new one and then found it wasnt charging so replaced the voltage regulator rectifier the stuck it in for a test and when straight through with only 1 advisory of the rear tyre gettin close!

This really is a rare bike to find in this condtion with a weekend of cleaning it would be very eye catching i was going to just clean it up as i rebuilt it.

It really does ride a dream like a harley should do its all tested and taxed so test rides wont be a problem as long as your insured.  

Please come and have a look it first as stated there is little marks on it but nothing major at all comes with rear saddler bag brackets and a front leather tool bag (is tatty and old tho) im currently waiting for the v5 to come back after a address change i chased dvla today 23/9/2014 and the said it wont be any longer than a week theyve got my new details on there system!

If it sells for the full price i do have a nearly brand new DNA 21 inch chrome front wheel to go with it with a good tyre on!

Just a few things to add ive noticed today that its got hagon rear shocks on which are still selling now for nearing £200 also a cobin seat from the states a brand new haynes manual will be included as well!

The paint work on this bike is near off perfect with only a tiny scratch on the tank which could be touched up easy!

Had a few offers on it which wasnt to far away from what id take for it and had a few that was just insulting so please when making a offer please think sensible about it its not priced high as it is but i am open to a price drop!
