Hey. its non fiction story time!   For Sale is my 1981 FXWG Shovelhead Wide Glide. 1340cc 80 Ci motor. I bought this bike 5 years ago. off a guy that lost his license and was forced to sell his dream bike. Sold with clean and clear NYS title. True mileage is unknown as most 34 yr old bikes would be. Speedo is new and only shows around 900 miles on it. Previous owners title showed 27000 or thereabouts. NYS shows "EXEMPT" in the space where mileage is recorded on title (I gave them the other title mileage and added this speedo's mileage and they choose to put exempt in). Previous owner told me that the motor and trans were professionally rebuilt and I did not doubt him upon inspecting the bike. I had to have it. It popped so much when I first set eyes on it. Here is the straight scoop on this bike. It has obviously had "beaucoup" dollars put into it. No shortage of quality custom parts are evident throughout. Look at the pictures. they do not lie. Some things I note are brand new Metezler tires front and back. Custom Joker Brand Calipers. nd rotors. front and back. Custom rims. chromed swing arm. chromed lowers on the front end. Chromed Custom triple tree and headlight assy. drag bars with custom signal/headlight controls. forward custom controls. stainless braided lines. it goes on and on. Now let?ˆ™s talk motor and trans. I have owned Shovels and not one started anywhere close to as easily as this bike. Touch the electric start and it is lit! Maybe it is because of the S&S carb setup. maybe because the rebuilder knew what they were doing. it just starts easily. Kick start also if you need the exercise. The Cylinder heads are done up nice with some kind of Black paint/Epoxy. look sharp and professionally done. Motor runs strong. no smoke. no noises. other than an school. Harley straight pipe exhausts. Bike shifts perfectly. clutch is strong. Newer Battery and new brake pads on the rear. ( I replaced) Ok so now for the best?ˆ¦?ˆ¦ the paint. This paint job screams ?ˆ?look at me?ˆ?. The flame job is stunning. the colors stellar together. Quality of finish and depth of shine say it all. Almost forgot to mention the deuce style air deflector/Dam on the front. Nice classy touch. There?ˆ™s more. I just know you get the picture already. Hey bottom line?ˆ¦?ˆ¦?ˆ¦ this is a bar hopper of supreme stature. needs nada except the rider willin?ˆ™ to invest the money and take the applause where ever you decide to pull up! Condition of bike cosmetically I rate overall at a 9+ out of 10. Mechanically 9+ out of 10. This bike deserves to be a trailer queen! It is wicked nice. It is fun to ride and after coming off a Ultra and then road king. to me it is like riding a "knife"! It is comfortable though and with your legs stretched out on the front pegs. the miles flow by. Really the only negative. the speedo light is out and that will be addressed before it sells. I also have just put on a $500. 00+ Leather LaPera 2 up seat and it makes this bike much more comfortable for trips of any distance. the other seat is included also!Bike is offered locally as well so I reserve the right to end this auction and offer at any time. Bike has a new NYS inspection done this August. NOTE: For all you lowballers etc that think the bike is only worth 4K or something. the last photo I included is of an 81 "Flame glide' that was for sale 5 yrs ago at Spitzies in Albany NY. If you look carefully you will see the asking price on the handlebar tag says $12. 95. 00 and the only thing Flame glide about that bike is it has an original tank! A real ugly front rim also. lol My bike granted is not everyone's cup of tea. nor should it be! But it is priced low according to Spitzies 5 yr old asking price. Thanks for enduring my diatribe!
