1967 Harley-Davidson XLCH Sportster Vintage Unrestored Survivor

 Up for auction is this 1967 Harley-Davidson XLCH Sportster. I purchased this bike a couple of years ago with the intention of doing a restoration. The main reason I bought this particular bike was because as near as I can see with the exception of the front brake line tube to fender bracket. all the original parts are there. Some items have been chromed. and the bike has obviously been repainted.

I never started this bike until about three hours before listing it. After checking out the magneto. filing and setting the points. installing a fresh set of plugs and putting some gas in the tank she came back to life. This bike has probably been sitting for about 10 years untouched. A quick trip down the road to check the tranny and back to my shop. Bike needs a clutch. the factory dry clutch is soaked with oil. There is a dent in the front fender on top and the rear fender is dented under the tail lamp and has cracking around the fender strut bolts. Rear cylinder head has broken fins. Cylinder is fine. Motor sounds very good. no smoke. tranny shifts as it should.

Bike still has the original Tillitson carburetor. Even the accelerator pump works although the boot is dry and hard. Original handlebar controls work fine including the swing magneto and all the correct hardware. Speedo works. Tach is not working but the inner cable is missing. Outer cable still hooked up to the mag. Correct wheels. still has a Goodyear 4:25 all traction on the back. seat is in great shape and the cover is not cracked or brittle. All the original bolts. nuts. screws and washers are still there. All the little brackets for the wiring and cables are still there.

 If you are looking for a bike to restore without chasing down all the correct parts. this is the bike for you. Or. with a couple minor repairs it could be an everyday driver.
