2004 Harley Davidson FLSTF Softail Fatboy w/ 20. 00 milesUpgraded to look and ride like a Heritage Classic. but it's a Fatboy. I bought this bike from the original owner who won it in a raffle. not kidding. He kept it in his garage and rode it a little. but the only indication of wear was a tiny scratch on the fender from a weed eater that fell on it in his garage. I've ridden this bike around Austin. in the hill country. one trip to Arkansas (which was awesome) and it's a comfortable ride. No smoking tire burnouts or abuse ever. In fact I've maintained the bike like it would be a part of the family for a long time with Amsoil synthetics at more often than recommended intervals. It's due for service in a couple thousand miles. I can show you how or provide detailed instructions. Say what you want about Harley reliability. but this one has needed nothing more than premium unleaded fuel and regular oil changes. I would show you the repair history but there isn't one. It's running a Vance and Hines shotgun style exhaust. which provides an undisputed baseline for the expression "rolling thunder". Front and rear tires are good for a lot more miles. It's got the HD Stage One kit which was installed (I was told) before it ever left the dealer and a Screaming Eagle Air Intake. Runs and starts always. ALWAYS. This has been one the most reliable machines on the planet. in part I assume from keeping clean oil and air in the engine. So why would you want this motorcycle when there are a lot of other Fatboys on eBay? Honestly. it depends what you're looking for but here are some of my thoughts about that:This Fatboy is carbureted. Unlike the fuel injection models. it has a personality. Some might say that's old and outdated. but ask around . . . there are quite a few Harley owners that still prefer the carb. It gets great mileage. same as EFI as far as I can tell. and range. Tt requires a minor starting drill. which is part of the pride of ownership you'll acquire after you buy this motorcycle. It goes something like this: turn the ignition on. pull the choke knob. twist the throttle once or twice and press the starter button. I can't remember the engine ever flooding or needing any more attention to get going. hot or cold. The upgrades are tasteful and designed for maximum utility . . . like the saddle bags. Trust me. you'll want some luggage capacity. And the highway bars front and rear will keep you from doing any significant damage to the bike if you're not paying attention and happen to lay it gently over at a gas station one day. not that I've ever done that. Not even a scratch. The price is reasonable and won't recover anywhere near my total investment. You'll learn soon if you don't know already. a lot of people strip all the chrome upgrades and gadgets off their Harleys before they sell to make an extra grand or two on the parts. If you don't believe me. search craigslist for "Harley Fatboy" in the motorcycle parts section. It's silver. not black like 4 out of 5 other Fatboys. Here are a few more details in case it might help you make up your mind to come over and take a look . . . 88ci Engine (Carbureted!)Vance and Hines Shotgun ExhaustHarley Stage One KitHarley Screaming Eagle Air IntakeHarley Detachable Windshield with Storage BagHarley Headlight and Auxiliary/Passing LightsHarley Heritage Leather Saddle Bags (from a Heritage Classic)Highway Bars and Rear Saddle Bag GuardsHarley Chrome Rear Axle Covers Harley Backrest and Luggage Rack (not shown. my wife doesn't ride with me)Pigtail for Trickle ChargerFull disclosure: there's a small chip in the paint at the bottom of the rear fender. which could easily be covered up with one of those $30 HD chrome fender guards. I've been meaning to do that for years. just haven't gotten around to it. And there's a small scratch on the back of the front fender which I did myself. I'm not proud of that but I installed a gadget (since taken off because it wasn't practical) that interfered. I bought an '09 Street Glide recently. It was a pre-arranged transaction with a family member that began two years ago when he started talking about selling his Street Glide (on that trip to Arkansas) and buying a Harley trike. I have five motorcycles in our garage now. and I'm offering this Fatboy because I don't need so many bikes. This has been a a tough decision that I still debate with myself regularly. Long story short. this is a no excuses Harley Fatboy . . . starts and rides great. and reliable no doubt for many more miles to come. I have clear undisputed title. so this bike can be yours in minutes.
