The Electra Glide is Harley-Davidson’s top-of-the-line touring motorcycle. In 2008. the Electra Glide came in Standard. Classic. and Ultra Classic models. as well as special editions for firefighters and peace officers. The police version has a heavier engine. The 2008 Ultra Classic Electra Glide displays special badges on the gas tank and cap cover. commemorating Harley-Davidson’s 105th anniversary. The major manufacturer of motorcycles in the United States turned out its first motorcycle in 1903. Harley made the first Electra Glide in 1966. and styling remains pretty much the same today. However. the engine and technology that power today’s Electra Glide are more advanced.

The Electra Glide wins rave reviews for driver and passenger comfort. One rider equated the seat comfort with riding a couch all day. Adjustable footboards for both driver and passenger add to their comfort. A sound system is standard. though it is suggested the driver have a special headset on his helmet so he can hear the audio. Anti-lock brakes (ABS) are new in the 2008 Electra Glide series. The ABS brakes. according to a Harley-Davidson announcement. operate on a manual system ""meaning the rider maintains control of how much of each brake is applied. "" These motorcycles are for experienced riders only. The Standard model weighs 783 pounds. while the other models weigh more. Maneuverability is good. except on tight corners when the bottom will scrape the ground if the rider is not paying attention during turns.
