1969 Yamaha 125 AT1
This is a 1969 Yamaha AT1 125 which was Yamaha’s first year of the small bore enduro and are very hard to find. The 1969 bikes are the only year with the white tank and very rare and costly to find in original condition. The bike is all original with matching frame and engine numbers and all the difficult-to-find parts. It’s a great bike to restore and these first year 125’s are going for well over $5000 after full restoration. The NADA motorcycle guide has this bike at $6400 in excellent condition.
Only the ’69 AT1 came with the 2-bolt “keystone” tail light and only the 1969-‘71 bikes have the famous “badge tanks”. The Yamaha 125 Enduros are in high demand from vintage motorcycle aficionados. Of all the Japanese 125’s this is the most sought after 125 because of the first year built the Yamaha badges and taillight etc. You hardly ever see these first year 125’s come up for sale on Ebay.
This is the first week of Summer so now is the time to get a vintage motorcycle that gets great mileage. You may have had one of these bikes when growing up and want to own one again. I have restored my first 1969 Lil Indian mini bike my 1970 Honda mini trail and my first “actual” motorcycle – a 1971 Kawasaki 125 that I raced in 1971 after removing the lights and applying a paper plate for my front number plate. It is such great satisfaction to have restored and own my first three “motorcycles”.
This bike still has the original Yokahama tires on the front and rear which tell you that it has not been ridden very much. It has a 3.00 x 18 Yokahama Trail Sport in the front and a 3.25 x 18 Yokahama Trail Sport on the rear. There is obviously evidence of cracking on both of the forty six year old tires but they still hold air and can be ridden on but they will need to be replaced.
The bike starts right up all gears work and you can see a short You Tube video of the bike being started and ridden:

The gas tank is clean and oil tank/Yamalube functions. It is obviously missing the Yamaha gas tank emblems. The rims are also original and in very good condition with no dents and no rust. It has the original seat cover with a tear in the middle and will need to be replaced. The bottom front fender brace will also need to be replaced because it is broken but still functions. The bike still has the original back luggage rack which is also hard to find. It has the original chain and sprockets. The electric start does not work. The engine was completely disassembled and all new gaskets (seven total gaskets) were installed as well as a new piston rings wrist pin clips etc. There was no need to go to the next oversize as the engine was very clean and kept it on it’s original bore. The headlight works but is missing the front glass. It has the original ribbed handgrips. It does not have it’s battery and the lights work without the battery.
The bike comes with the original Yamaha key and a small tool kit that fits in the tool holder box. Also included with this original AT1 is the original Yamaha Riders manual that came with this bike. It starts out on the first page by stating:
“Congratulations! You are now the owner of a new Yamaha SINGLE ENDURO 125 AT1B. The AT1 is a high performance motorcycle manufactured by the leading manufacturer of motorcycles in Japan. The AT1 the newest and top of the Yamaha line model is designed for competition and high-speed road use. It features a rugged powerful 2-stroke single cylinder engine and Autolube the revolutionary lubricating system developed by Yamaha Technical Research Laboratory and proven in all Yamaha models”.
In the back of the manual it also has the four page fold out wiring diagram which makes assembly much easier during restoration. On the back memo page of the manual there is handwritten service record notes from what appears to be from the original owner such as the 500 mile check up he had performed on and the day that he bought the bike. Just try to find an original 1969 manual that is tied to the same bike with actual owner service record notes.
Please do not ask me what the reserve price because I will not tell you and it is not fair to other potential buyers.
To put this bike into perspective - there was a 1969 Yamaha 125 AT1 sold on EBay a few months back in very similar condition as this bike and went for $1800. Check it out – item number 181662621005.Please see the NADA value of this bike by going to the website below.

My opinion this Yamaha is equal to or better than NADA’s “good” condition which retails for $1685.
The motorcycle will be sold as-is with no warranties implied and it comes with a valid California title that is in my name and has not been signed and/or dated. Some people will say they have the title but it is already signed and dated and California DMV will charge you late fees from the date that it is on the title because you only have 30 days to transfer vehicles into your name in California after purchase. It does not have a license plate because it in on non operational status but all you need is the title and bill of sale – no need to take bike to DMV for verification. I already did that for you. I do not sell any vehicle without a title and you shouldn’t buy a vehicle without a title.
Please check my Ebay history – it is at 100% satisfaction for a reason and ninety five percent of my Ebay sales are related to motorcycles or motorcycle parts. I have been riding racing restoring and collecting motorcycles for over 45 years.
I also have several transport contacts and can get this Yamaha transported almost anywhere in the United States for much less that most motorcycle transporters and USHIP. I also have transported motorcycles to Australia and Europe and I have no issues selling to anyone out of the country. I know of several international transporters and I will charge only $100 to get the bike to the transporter/logistics and fifty cents a mile both ways – you pay the transporter to get it over the ocean but I will assist with the logistics and finding a shipper.
I have disclosed everything that I know about this bike and please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or if you would like other pictures. You are welcome and encouraged to start ride and see this bike in person before the auction ends I am in Southern California – just email me.
Please check out my other Ebay listings – a 1972 Suzuki TS 125 Duster a 1968 JC Penney Pinto mini bike a 1969 Hodaka 100 Ace that has been converted to a exceptional Motocross bike as well as a several vintage motorcycle and mini bike parts that are priced well below EBay “book” value.
