Description

You are bidding on:

A beautiful original 1969 Honda CB750 Sandcast This is the real thing - #6655 of the original 7414  “Sandcast” version.

The Engine number is 6671

Build Date = Sept. 1969

As you guys “in the know” realize. Honda built the first 7414 of these bikes with the Sandcast molds for the engine cases. These original sandcast models have gone thru the roof in recent years and are increasing in value faster than any money market could ever hope to.

 This Particular Bike

This bike is a real jewel. Every detail is as nice as it was from the factory This bike has only 14. 30 original miles on it and has always been cared for by adult caretakers who were not abusive or felt that they know better than the Honda and re-engineered the bike with their own style of expertise. That being said. the bike did in fact go thru a mild cosmetic restoration in the last couple of years. After 40+ years of aging. a few things were freshened up with great attention to detail so as to keep everything as close to correct as possible as it was from the factory.

The engine has never been opened up and is in perfect running condition. The chain never flew off and broke the engine cases. which was pretty common for these first bikes before Honda recalled them for a dealer fix.

The carbs have been rebuilt recently by the previous owner and are in perfect working order.

The transmission shift smoothly with no issues

All systems and electrical components are in perfect working order.

All the chrome is absolutely like new with no rust. pitting or hazing of any kind.

The gas tank is a brand new NOS “Wrinkle Tank” that has never had fuel put into it and still has the factory foil seal on the filler neck. The original tank was rusty inside. from sitting for years. and was replaced with an NOS tank rather than cleaned out and coated. which is a band aid method at best. Nothing like a brand new tank. Yummy!

The bike also has NOS side covers. and the correct Red Foam seat which is beautiful and like new.

The front fender is the correct double cut fender and is perfect.

The gauges are the original and have been restored with new face plates and look like new and work perfectly.

The pipes are original and are in perfect condition other than what might be minor flaws here and there which would hard to distinguish unless you really looked hard all around them.

The tires are brand new period correct and have 0 miles on them.

All the bolt heads are the correct number 8 bolts throughout the entire bike and are as nice as they were new. Another indication that this bike was always pampered.

All the polished aluminum on the bike has the original “Satin Finish” and clear coat from the factory and looks beautiful.

The bike has the original tool kit. which is like new and is positioned under the seat where it should be.

The bike has a new period correct battery installed and is in working order.

This bike is an absolutely beautiful example of the bike that changed motorcycle history forever.

The only original “Sandcast Only” items that are missing from the bike are:

The original recessed ignition which was replaced by the previous owner due to its failure. and the original “Rolled Rim” rear wheel. (not sure why that is missing. but it does have a period correct rim that is in perfect condition) These items would be easily replaced with the correct ones to make the bike 100% and they do not detract from the fact that this is one of the best original sandcast bikes out there.

This bike is located and can be viewed at Marin Speed Shop in San Rafael. California. Formally Hattar Motorsports. Keep in mind that the shop is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

On Jul-21-14 at 20:40:58 PDT. seller added the following information:

Please take note that the pipes. shown clearly in the picture. are the HM300 pipes.

I have had a number of viewers inform me that all the Sandcast bikes were equipped with the  "no stamp" pipes. I have heard that the later sandcast bikes could have had the stamped pipes. The pipes that are on this bike were the pipes that were on the bike for the last couple of owners. so I assumed that they were the original. They are early 300 pipes. so they may or may not be the pipes that came on the bike from the factory. Please be aware of this before you bid on the bike.
