HONDA 400 / 4 Super Sport

1976 HONDA 400 4 SUPER SPORT.

OVERALL CONDITION GOOD - ESPECIALLY FOR A BIKE NEARLY 40 YEARS OLD. 36000 MILES.

I BOUGHT THIS ON E-BAY LAST SEPTEMBER TO SERVE AS A 'TEMPLATE MODEL' TO ASSIST ME IN PUTTING BACK TOGETHER ANOTHER 400 WHICH I INHERITED IN BITS. NOW FINISHED SO THIS ONE IS BACK UP FOR SALE. LAST OWNER HAD IT FOR 4 YEARS AND USED IT REGULARLY FOR VINTAGE RUNS WITH HIS LOCAL CLUB.

GOOD BITS - REASONABLY TIDY BUT WOULD NOW BENEFIT FROM RESTORATION ( EG POWDER COATING FRAME. NEW SEAT COVER ETC. ) GOOD TYRES. EXHAUST (MOTAD) AND BATTERY. STARTS ON THE BUTTON AND RUNS WELL. IDEAL AS A RUNNING RESTORATION PROJECT. MOT'D TO 17th FEB. EVERYTHING SEEMS TO WORK OK. COMES WITH WORKSHOP MANUAL AND SOME HISTORY.

NOT SO GOOD BITS.

MINOR LEAK FROM HEAD GASKET SO WILL NEED A REPLACEMENT SOONER OR LATER. CHROME NOT BAD BUT SOME MINOR LOSS HERE AND THERE. MENTIONED THE FRAME AND SEAT. 'EXTENDED' GEAR PEDAL (PREVIOUS OWNER -ARTHRITUS) I THINK A LITTLE BIT NOISY (RATTLY) BUT BELIEVE POSSIBLY CAM NEEDS ADJUSTING AND DONT BELIEVE IT IS SERIOUS AND WAS SO ADVISED BY PREVIOUS KEEPER. CRACKED SIDE PANEL SO WILL NEED MINOR REPAIR +SPRAY. ENGINE SILVER PAINTED AS SHOWN AND SOME BROKEN OFF FINS.

 So far I have two offers for instant buy  ?900 and ?1000. and two people coming to view (which I much prefer). I am not accepting any offers below the BiN price quoted at this time but thanks for making the offers anyhow.

There are  two sets of keys with the bike - working seat lock. There is no lid to the tool box container and only a couple of tools. I have a full set of Honda tank /side panel decalls/ transfers for the bike if required and would sell these for ?20.

Please note 'chip' to fuel tank caused by tax disc holder - very minor.

Sorry - I said all chrome was fair to good but the rear mudguard. (Beneath the seat ) has corroded and been repaired with fibreglass - not a bad job and still totally serviceable but if you were going to renovate it could probably do with a replacement rear mudguard in due course. My apologies for overlooking this point and if you wish to withdraw any bid accordingly I have no problem with that. Overall I still believe that it is a nice bike. worthy of some restoration but still totally useable as it is.

I am being as honest and accurate as I can with the description and thank those who have shown an interest.

THE BUY IT NOW PRICE FOR THE BIKE IS ?1250. 00.

If this occurs I am willing to put 12 months MOT on it  - but this may delay collection for up to a week - alternatively I will refund ?50 to cover the MOT. There are no known faults to the machine and no 'advisories' from the last MOT.
