Description

In response to a couple of queries; I am in Devon so I'm happy for the bike to be collected from me by a courier/man in a van. nbsp;once payment has been received. I have used one myself called BLD in Hampshire who collect and deliver nationwide for ?125 last time I checked.

This is an auction for my UK registered CBX1000 Prolink which comes with a comprehensive warranty.   These bikes are now 30+ years old and it’s vital you consider one with at least some provenance from recent years and assurance of how it is running and riding now.

The Honda CBX 1000 was the most extraordinary air cooled engine ever produced when it first appeared. In 1981. Honda switched gear and headed the CBX into the sport touring category  adding a sleek fairing as well as Pro-Link "single-shock" rear suspension and air-adjustable front forks. Honda also used dual stainless-alloy ventilated front rotors (a first for the motorcycle industry).

I bought the bike in November last year at the same time as a Z1300 as I’m now old and I wanted a 6 cylinder bike  to enjoy the classic track days that are being put on across the UK and Europe.   I’m at Angelsey on 30th May so see you there maybe!  Having ridden both bikes I’m going to keep the Z1300 as it’s better suited to a track day than the fully faired CBX.

I bought the CBX from Cannon BMW dealership in Suffolk and the bike and the owner were well known to the dealer.

As you can see from the pictures. the bike is excellent and original condition.   It has covered just 21. 92 miles.   I have MOTs from 1999 through to 2006 when she was then taken off the road and dry stored until she came back onto the road in July 2014.   The bike has had very limited use since 1999 and was believed to be held as an investment.

MOT history on file:

27th May 1999   18. 27 miles

15th April 2000   18. 54

28th June 2001   19. 71

1st June 2005     19. 38

7th July 2006       20. 65

31st July 2014     21. 60

19th Nov 2014    21. 32

When I bought the CBX. Cannons completed the 24K service as per the Honda specification and used genuine Honda CBX parts some of which had to be ordered from Japan.   Cannons did a great job.   Part of the service included the carb balance and  valve clearance check. a mammoth job. and many needed replacing which they did with genuine Honda parts.   One of the photos shows the bike on the bench with the work in progress.     I have the supporting paperwork from Cannons which details all the work done in the 24K service including the valve clearances.

The result is that the bike purrs beautifully and rides really. really well.

The bike has a new exhaust and 2 new tyres as well. The discs are all true and the battery is charged as it sits on a trickle charger in my garage.

I bought the bike with a comprehensive warranty from ‘Customer Protect’ which I can transfer to the new owner.   It runs until December this year so you have 9 months of worry free motoring. Details here:  http://www. autoprotect. co. uk/bike-protect

The bike is HPI clear on any check you wish to do – there is one on file that I did.

Finally. there are 2 original keys. a service manual and other bits of paperwork and invoices from the 1980/90s.

Anything to do to her?

My Ebay reputation is important to me so there is some paint starting to peel on the engine casings and the clock was disconnected back in 2006 when it was dry stored.   I’ve spoken to the previous owner who said he did it himself to save the battery.   It simply needs the connector pushing in but my hands are too big to get in the fairing compartment! There is a scratch on the front left hand fairing near the mirror and the odd rusty nut and bolt but she is 33 years old.

This is an honest appraisal of the bike.   You could put a cover over her in the garage for a few years or ride her or both.   Either way. the value is only going to go up.

Viewing of the bike is very welcome and test rides too with a ?7500 cash deposit and proof of your insurance.   I do not wish to part ex or swap for anything else thank you.

The CBX is a rare bike and does generate interest but genuine buyers and enquiries only please.

Collection within a week of the sale please.   ?200 non refundable deposit within 48 hours and the balance by cash on collection or bank transfer. not Paypal due to fees they charge.
