I have always wanted to build one. but never really had a chance to do it. In September 2014. I caught wind of a 1996 CR500 that needed some work done to it. and the guy wanted to sell the bike instead of fixing it. This is when my "bright idea" sails went up. I purchased the bike and began the search for a donor bike for the new AF chassis. This "monster of a bike" was on its way to reality. In October 2014 I acquired a 2004 CRF 250 that was in great shape. but it had a bunch of Aftermarket parts on it. My idea for this conversion bike was to build an OEM replica bike that was so true to Honda spec that it would make even a seasoned Vet question its origins. After countless hours in the garage assembling then disassembling. assembling then disassembling. only to do it again and again. this is the bike that came out of this commitment. The final result? I think the photos speak for themselves. Great care was taken meticulously labeling every piece of plastic. every little part. even EVERY BOLT during the build. Attention to all of the little details can be seen in the final product. All components were rebuilt. resealed. and re-oiled before final assembly. SPECS: MOTOR: 1996 HONDA CR500 CHASSIS: 2004 HONDA CRF 250R Registration is CURRENT and is registered as a RED STICKER bike using the VIN from the CRF250. The bike DOES have a spark arrestor. This bike was built using years of experience. passion and extensive knowledge of Honda Motorcycles. True. there are a LOT of tricked out 500s out there. ANYBODY can go online or into a shop and order after-market parts for these bikes. However. this bike is different. This bike is as close to OEM as possible. Example: Just to find an OEM grey plastic clutch cover I spent 2 months trolling the web. searching forums. and calling shops. I eventually found one in decent condition and it was soon on its way home. It had to be correct. Everything from the grips to the axle nuts are OEM Honda. Another "detail" to notice: All of the lead wires on the CDI box were professionally extended so the CDI could be relocated from the standard "engine bay" location and be placed in the same location as newer late model Honda's. right behind the front number plate. All of the welds were professionally done by a local shop. with certifications available upon request. As seen in the photos. nbsp;there is only 5. 2 hours of run time on the bike since it was completed. THIS BIKE IS NOT FOR BEGINNERS. AND WILL NOT BE SOLD TO A NEW RIDER.
