1965 HONDA S90 (Super 90) - EXCELLENT CONDITION OLDER RESTORATION

You are viewing a restored. first year US market-available Honda Super 90 (S90). Bike was awarded 1st Place at the 24th Annual Del Mar (CA) Concours d’ Elegance. Japanese 1964 thru ’69 Class. and shows approximately 550 miles since complete tear-down restoration in 1994. It has been continuously & meticulously maintained by the seller & displayed in the San Diego Automotive Museum’s motorcycle exhibit (i. e. . indoor. climate controlled. secure environment) since 1997. Restoration included total disassembly of all parts / components. & thorough inspection by local Honda expert. MrHonda Bill Silver. Only those parts deemed to have minimal wear & needing plating. fresh paint or powder coat. and rechrome were retained. Engine / mechanicals re-assembled by Bill Silver using only Honda NOS (new old stock) parts as needed. many of which are now NLA. Correct 2-piece exhaust (with removable baffle). rims. spokes. tank side panels. headlight trim ring. one-year-only correct flat bar & many small chrome / plated pieces were replaced with Honda NOS during restoration. Frame. swing arm. chain guard. battery cover. upper fork assembly and other black parts bead blasted & powder coated gloss black. Only air cleaner assembly & tail light mount were painted. Forks purged & rebuilt. fork rubber & shock covers all replaced with NOS units. & all trim parts were triple-plate re-chromed. Correct low mile. near perfect speedo was rebuilt & calibrated by Foreign Speedo. San Diego. & set to “0” miles. Seat is original Honda OEM unit that came with the bike & retained due to excellent original condition. Tank is original and virtually spotless inside never having been coated or otherwise modified. All electrical components are fully functional. Cables all replaced and function properly. Tail light assembly is an NOS domestic unit which the seller and most admirers agree is more size-appropriate than the larger US spec unit. Tail light & mounting assembly can easily be switched to a US spec unit with no modification to fender or wiring loom. Foot peg assembly is a rare domestic unit which incorporates a side stand that was not included on US spec bikes. For those not familiar with the 1965 model S90. the engine is the most powerful offered in the US S/CL90 lineup. It offered a one year only alloy head with higher compression and unique offset manifold that developed more power than later models. Bike is a very capable performer that can approach 60mph… truly impressive for 90cc’s! Spokes. factory NOS cadmium-plated replacements. and chrome tank panels / covers (replaced during restoration) show very minor cosmetic deterioration appropriate for an older restoration. There is no structural damage to the spokes though they have developed the typical fuzz that occurs with exposure to the normal environment… even indoors. Chrome tank panels remain very presentable. Both rims (NOS replacements) carry original factory stamping & remain in excellent condition with no visual wear. Tires are correct NOS size & tread pattern that were installed at restoration. but show sidewall cracking & should be replaced before riding. (Sale includes one correct size / pattern. never used NOS front tire. ) Petcock assembly recently rebuilt (new seals & screen). Bike recently serviced by MrHonda Bill Silver who will attest to its superb condition. Rear fender has a very minor dent visible in the triangle area located under the seat between the rear fender & frame. Dent could easily be removed without damaging paint. Bike comes with Honda factory Owners & Parts manuals (1965 model). tool kit. spares keys. & CA non-op title / registration in the seller’s name. All miles since restoration accumulated by the seller. Del Mar Concours 1st place trophy not included in this sale. Bike is ready-to-run with addition of fuel and battery (replaced 01-14) that is included with sale. Pictures (some taken with seat removed) are recent and accurately depict overall condition. Trades (motorcycles) may be considered.
