I will "attempt" to describe with ALL honesty the details and history within this auction! FOR SALE: my personal 1979 Honda CBX in Candy Glory RED! This a 2 owner motorcycle! I am the 2nd owner and the 1st owner was the husband of out family baby sitter! On or about the years 2001/2002. the first owner came to me asking for money as he was getting a divorce. He said of how he hated to do it. but his "Baby" would be the collateral. Well. you know how the story goes. I bought the motorcycle due to my fond remembrance of walking in to a bike shop in 1983 with full intent on purchasing a brand spankin' new 1983 Honda CB1100F! The sales guy asked me if I had ever seen/heard of a 1979 Honda CBX? I said no. whereby he took me back to the warehouse and showed me a DOZEN. sitting un-assembled in CRATES (again in 1983)! The price was $3000. 00 and assembled. I was in LOVE! Of course nothing is forever. and to further my education the bike got sold 2 years later. Imagine: actually owning a brand new in the crate 1979 Honda CBX??? Enough of the glory days. now on to the DESCRIPTION: this motorcycle is an UN-RESTORED original with 24. 11 miles. It had 22K+ miles on it when I obtained it in 2001/2002. It features the "European Sport Kit" which is the FACTORY shorter handle bars (and therefore speedometer and clutch cables). and the "set back" foot pegs (for a a more forward leaning [race] posture). all of which is a rare version on a rarely found motorcycle! The suspension is sporting a set of Custom "FOX Shocks" (in color red). that are so RARE. that I've personally never even seen another set in ALL my CBX pursuits/endeavors! If I were to list the shocks alone on eBay. I wouldn't blink an eye at a $2000. 00 opening bid. with full expectations of a BID WAR!!! The rear brake line has been converted to braided stainless steel. The engine features an ALTERNATOR REPLACEMENT of the old points. brushes. and condenser configuration (which very much stunk). It was purchased at "TIMS CBX" for something along the $799. 00 range. and is a most wonderful addition/improvement over the previous. The custom cover on the alternator itself is a $100. 00 addition. The exhaust is the famed "KERKER" 6 into 2 Header. by which this period example has the black powder-coated engine headers. and then chrome exhaust cans. I DO NOT have the original exhaust (never did). The fuel delivery petcock has been changed to a "Pingel" system. A K&N full size air filter has replaced the original air filter. The seat is a really nice "Corbin" seat that gives a great feel of both comfort and support over the factory original. I DO NOT have the original seat. The original turn signals have been replaced with aftermarket far SMALLER units. I DO NOT have the original turn signals. The mirrors are aftermarket units. I DO NOT have the original mirrors. CONDITION: there are no major discrepancies as far as obnoxious scratches or dents. The guages are clear of any fogging. nor cracked glass. and are operational. One notable mention is the very last photo in the series. showing a scrape on the right hand side rear portion of the exhaust can. The over-all condition is of course assessed by you viewing the photo's. along with this statement that it has been adult owned AND loved! FUNCTIONALITY: It has a brand new battery for the 2015 season. in 2006/2007 I had the spark plugs and brake pads replaced. along with a rebuild of the carburetors. The work was done by a Honda Certified repair facility in Manassas. VA where the mechanics had been working on classic Honda's for years. and their knowledge and expertise was remarkable! I personally always used 93 octane fuel in the motorcycle. and for the last 3 years have been using ETHANOL FREE 93 octane fuel. however. my only source just discontinued the 93 and retains the 89 as of the 1st of this year. I always added the "Stabil" fuel treatment after the end of the riding season (from Thanksgiving to March 1st). and ran it through the carbs for 20 minutes. I changed the oil and filter during my ownership (seasonally). using synthetic. but cannot speak to the frequency or type prior to my ownership. The tires are definitely used and older. however. North Carolina state law requires "safety inspections" and never have they been deemed unsafe. or safety worthiness denied! I would declare that they need replacing to gain confidence in your newly acquired machine. NOTE: I have the ORIGINAL "Manual" for this motorcycle. AND all the service records from the original owner (up to my ownership). where I am sorry to say that I can NOT locate "my records" at this time!!! Should I (ever) find my records. I will certainly retain your name and address. and get them to you at my expense. Any additional details of significance that come to mind. will be added as an addendum to this listing. CONCERNING SHIPPING: I will sell this motorcycle "GLOBALLY" however- this will be a FIRST for me. as I am just a regular guy. and NOT a shipping expert! I have absolutely NO CLUE how to ship something (especially this size and weight) Globally. but I will do my best to acommodate you if YOU do TWO THINGS: 1) you are very very PATIENT in the process. and 2) YOU do ALL the arranging. calling. quoting. etc. etc. etc. whereby I simply show up to the LOCAL (NOTE!!! LOCAL!!!) facility with the MOTORCYCLE and leave it off. or be present at my home when YOUR authorized representative or company shows up to retrieve it!!! ADDITIONAL PARTS: I currently have "CBX Parts" listed FOR SALE as separate auctions from this listing. and many more upcoming CBX parts yet to be listed. so please take a look at my other auctions! THANKS and Good Luck!!!
