I have owned this super bike for over 2 years now. I love riding it and I think it looks superb but those itchy feet always get the better of me and I am ready for a different challenge now! It is a 1999 Honda VTR 1000 F Firestorm. with stunning red paintwork. which includes a colour-matched pillion seat cover and is set off beautifully with a dark tint Powerbronze screen. carbon-effect rear hugger and matt-black front mudguard. Only 16651 miles (will rise a bit for as long as it is for sale) with plenty of history. This is unlike most other VTR 1000 Firestorms as I have done my research to ensure reliability and sharp handling. both issues that can effect the Firestorm. I have installed manually adjustable cam-chain tensioners to remove the usual Honda chocolate cam-chain tensioner issues. This will prevent the front cam-chain tensioner from failing and destroying the engine which has been documented on a few of these engines over the years. I have also added a 3mm spacer above the rear shock mount which just gives the rear of the bike a 3mm lift. slightly altering the geometry of the bike. This modification gives the bike sharper steering response and removes the slightly vague feeling (compared to a superbike) of the standard bike. In addition the the suspension mod. I have removed the standard bar-end weights and inserts and replaced those with new bar end weights and slightly larger diameter 'Renthall' handlebar grips. If you have ever seen Honda bar-end inserts. they slide up the whole of the clip on handlebar and carry some considerable weight! This handlebar mod has served to lighten the steering. has significantly improved the front end and has created the feel of a sharp-steering. lightweight. flickable sport bike. without losing the comfortable riding position. The thicker 'Renthall' grips also improve feel at the bars. The brakes have been upgraded with stainless. braided hoses and have also had new double H sintered pads fitted. The rear suspension has been dismantled and greased and the headset bearing was also replaced with tapered roller type bearings which are superior to OEM. Oil and filter were replaced at the start of this season. the bike runs like a dream and certainly doesn't reflect the fact that it is 15 years old. Tyres. chain & sprockets are all good with plenty of life left and there are no known faults to speak of. If you are after a V-Twin sport bike with the build quality and performance that only Honda can achieve then this could be for you. I have seen it stated plenty of times that this is one of the most overlooked bikes out there. It certainly is. it doesn't have underseat pipes. twin headlights or a race-rep paint job but it is classy. superbly built. comfortable (like a V-Twin CBR600) and with the mods added to this bike. it will give anybody a run for their money without feeling like you might just lose the front tyre!
