Description

1971 Honda CB750 very early K1. Beautifully Preserved Survivor. Original Condition A) History and Condition:This is an exceptional 1971 Honda CB750 K1 with an original. certified 18. 28 miles. The serial number is CB7501058799 and the build date was 10/70. making it a very early K1. (Production of the K1 series started September 21. 1970). Originally sold new by Pete’s Cycle in Bel Air. Maryland. this is a three owner bike with a known history. This bike has not been restored and is extremely original and properly maintained in every respect. The paint is the original and attractive Valley Green metallic and is nearly perfect. The chrome is all original and even though the Japanese chrome was not the best. it still shows well. The fenders are without blemish and the wheel rims are very presentable. The seat is all original and still very nice. with the Honda logo bright and complete. The tank is rust free. is factory original paint. and has not been coated inside. The lights. turn signals. mirrors. foot pegs. everything about this bike is correct. original and close to perfect. B) Service History:The service history includes normal maintenance items and replacements as needed. The exhaust pipes have been replaced. but with the authentic. expensive. and correct HM300 exhaust pipes supplied by the Honda dealer. These were replaced about 10 years ago. They are as new and sound great. (See the link below for detailed pictures of the exhaust pipes. including the area underneath. where all the informed folks want to inspect. ) The tires are Dunlops in the correct size and still have the little nubs on the sidewalls. The battery has been replaced with a nice sealed battery. The fork gaiters have been replaced with the correct replacements. The engine number has never been stamped as the dealer replaced the engine case with a new factory original early in this bike’s life due to a broken drive chain. And the only paintwork is that the side covers have been professionally repainted as they had faded a bit over the years. They match the tank and headlight shell perfectly. C) Other details As far as riding goes. this pretty little Honda starts readily. runs cool. accelerates energetically. shifts perfectly. handles nicely. stops straight and true. It has a wonderful feel. light and powerful. and very easy to maneuver. Lights. charging system. starter. carbs. switches. brakes are all in excellent working condition. There are no leaks and no problems. The front brakes have been serviced recently. including seals in both the master and caliper. The oil and filter have been changed as well. and valves have been recently adjusted. There is really nothing to do but the next normal services and polish the alloy and chrome to show standard. Not only is this 750 nicely preserved. it is complete in every way. The toolkit is original and complete. including the padded Honda pouch and storage tray. The owners handbook is included. together with a factory service manual and reprinted factory parts manual. Also included is the original sales brochure and the original title issued by the State of Maryland. Although this bike was built in October 1970. and is called a 1971 by Honda. the title was listed as a 1972 when sold by Pete’s Cycle. which I understand was a common practice back in those days. The originally issued Maryland title is part of what you’ll receive with the bike. together with the present title free of liens and ready to go. You will find this Honda to be a wonderful vintage motorcycle in all respects. If you are a picky vintage motorcycle ennthusiast (like I am). you will find much to like and admire about this bike. It is unusual to find a survivor CB750 as so many were modified over the years. or have undergone a complete restoration. D) More photos at SmugMug: So you can have a really good look and see for yourself. a full display of photographs is posted on SmugMug under my photos listed as Milepost105. I am not discriminating against new folks- I had a 0 rating at one point. but I don't want to sell this nice car to a ghost. I reserve the right to cancel all bids. but especially those from bidders with unacceptably high negative feedback numbers or low numbers that do not verify directly with me. I apologize for any inconvenience. I do encourage you to come see the CB750 K1 either personally or through a friend or mechanic. I’ll happily give you my phone number if you email me and wish to discuss the bike by telephone.
