Description
Up for sale is my 1966 Honda CB450 Black Bomber. This is a very nice driverand just about alloriginal bike. The bike has a very nice presentation and always collects interest and compliments. It is in very good condition and you might say it is excellent for its age. The title matches the engine on this bike which was a common practice in the State of Wisconsin for a decade or so. The frame VIN is CB450-1004705 and the engine VIN is CB450E-1003027. The two numbers don't match and that too was normal at the time. I am going describe the bike in a rather critical fashion as to highlight its flaws and I do this so someone a perfectionistic type person for example doesn't later complain about some minor thing. With that in mind. Firstly the bike shows no evidence of crash damage frame distortion or modification. One of the mirrors shows road rash but it wasn't from this bike. Please note this bike will come with two KO style mirrors but only one appears in the pictures. The mileage is unknown on the bike but when I got it the speedometer was at 12000ish but after awhile the mileage counter began to spin at its own pace racking up miles I never really traveled. The mileage counter is in need of some attention. The speedometer portion works OK though. I am going to say it has less than 15000 miles. The chrome all really shines brightly with none of the fade that some chrome will begin to show. The exhaust is solid and has a nice throaty sound. The tank is very nice with a solid shinning black exterior nice chrome panels and great rubber side pads. On the inside the tank is very good and holds gas with no leaking but may need a cleaning. I have used the tank as is with no ill effects for years. The origninal sivler paint is good overall it shows wear use and age. There are scuffs scratches and occasional slight rust. But it looks decent and because its original and I liked the patinaI never touched it. The front fender has fender tip lip damage on the high side and low side. These are easily straightened and being so minor and hard to notice I left it alone. I did manage to lose a side cover on the left side and have included a replacement that needs to be repainted. The rear fender is nice and straight with good original paint. The seat is in very good condition with one minor repairable hole. The seat rubber hinges are in fair condition and still hold the seat up but they are weathered and cracked. The buttons on the seat are slightly rusty and I am including some NOS buttons to replace them. Head light bucket is nice and undamaged gauges are crisp. Battery is old. Brakes are good and tires are around two years old and in excellent condition. Forks seem OK. All the lights work. Carburetors are cleaned and working but not perfect so they need the touch of someone good with these early carbs. As a result the bike takes a while to come off choke. The engine however is rock solid with compression at 155 & 150 psi using a reliable Snap-on compression testor. No tool kit or manual. Please see the pictures and email or call with questions: 92O-2O5-OO13 Greg.
