This wonderful little machine is all here and all original. It had sat for who knows how long but was visually in excellent condition - dear old dad had it sitting in the garage and it was finally decided to get it running and find it a new home. The carbs naturally were first priority - I replaced float valves & seats jets cleaned everything up new gaskets etc. Even took the opportunity to put on new intake manifolds as the old ones showed some superficial cracks when I removed the carbs to clean them. The gas tank was rusty on the inside (it's pretty gorgeous on the outside - see the pics) so we cleaned that up and did a Kreem treatment on it - and installed a brand-new petcock to boot. New air filters went on and I even replaced the rubber bushings in the handlebar mounts since it had gotten a little loose - it's like new now. I'd bought new points for it too but wound up not even putting them in - they'll go with the bike. The battery was toast so it got a new battery as well. New spark plugs and an oil change rounded out the maintenance work. After putting it all back together the machine started right away - the motor has excellent compression and I was actually pretty stunned at how well it runs...I expected it to be kind of a pooch but nothing could be further from the truth. It runs strong and has no trouble keeping up with traffic. It idles nicely and although it's a bit cold-blooded (you would be too if you were a 46 year-old motorcycle) it starts without too much fuss when cold - and once it's got a little warmth it just pops right off with the magic button. You could pretty easily use this bike as a daily commuter...or do a few final touchups and make it a show bike......to that end from ten feet away the bike practically looks mint. Up close of course you can see that it's got some flaws - the biggest of which is probably the rusted out mufflers (see pics). Because of this the exhaust note is a bit louder than you'd expect from such a small machine - but not offensive by any stretch of the imagination. I would reckon though that those mufflers would be the #1 thing to replace whether you were riding the machine on a daily basis and just wanted it to sound the way it's supposed to or because you want it to look right. If you're not concerned with being all-original I'd imagine you could probably slip on some inexpensive aftermarket mufflers pretty cheaply and easily and have it purr like a kitten. Other than that there's suprisingly few paint blemishes the worst being what looks like some kind of liquid dripped down the right side panel (like brake cleaner maybe would be my guess) and left a little trail - you can barely see it in the photos...all the chrome is pretty good but it'd probably be worth the effort to take some Simichrome or similar polish to the chrome to wipe out the little flecks of rust. The tires are worn and show some superficial cracking simply due to their age but they hold air fine and are probably OK for a while although if it was going to be a daily runner a set of tires would probably be a prudent idea. The brakes seem great and the suspension seems fine - although I didn't disassemble the forks to look at their seals. It honestly rides better than I'd have expected it to though...and the tiny little thing is so nimble it's kind of amazing. The odometer reads 2050 miles - but take that with a grain of salt...the speedo is stuck at about 23mph and there's not really any way to tell what the actual mileage is. Having said that...to be honest I'd have no trouble believing it was the original tires chain/sprockets grips etc. on this machine - if the speedo worked I'd believe the 2050 myself. The condition of the bike is just that good.We took a short video of the bike starting idling and being ridden - you can get it here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2ddmdyw3891mx4h/MOV006.MOD?dl=0 - it's about a 50Mb file which shouldn't take you too long to get. I'm not sure how eBay will treat that link - I just uploaded it to Vimeo too - https://vimeo.com/128696456 - and if neither of those work send me an email and I'll email you a link. Finally you are more than welcome to come out and see the bike - and ride it - or to send out a buyer's representative. We're on the south side of the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area so if you wanted you could easily find a local mechanic to come out and check the machine over for you. And please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions - this is a cherry of a machine and there's no doubt in my mind you'll fall in love with it. Whether you're looking for a errand-runner or a potential show bike I don't think you're going to do any better than with this machine! And just because someone always asks - yes we have the title in hand - Illinois title - Type of Title: Original - showing no liens.Oh as for shipping...if you're relatively close to the Twin Cities you could probably talk us into delivering the machine for you for some reasonable fee. Contact us to discuss that before bidding. Otherwise it is the buyer's responsibility to arrange for pickup and delivery of the machine. We'll happily work with whatever shipper you want to have come and get it and make sure it gets on the truck safely & securely. You'll get the machine as seen in the photos/video 2 points and the title.
