Description

This incredibly clean authentic unrestored original CB175 has been in my family for many years. As illustrated in the photos from a few feet away it couldeasily be mistaken for being showroom-new and it still runs like new. All the paint and chrome are Honda factory original - nothing has been repainted or re-plated. I've been to the Honda Museum in Japan and this CB175 is even nicer and more authentically original than some of the machines there. This actual vehicle is pictured on page 79 of Doug Mitchell's Honda Motorcycles: The Ultimate Guide.I've included high resolution photos illustrating the cosmetic condition of this Honda. Please look closely and ask any questions prior to bidding. The photos are an important part of this listing description. I'vealso included a video taken a few days ago showing the bike starting from cold and running - PLEASE SEE VIDEO BELOWAll lights turn signals brake horn clutch transmission and engine are in excellent working condition. At some point in its life it sat with gas in the tank and there is residue from this however it has never caused any trouble even though there are no inline fuel filters installed. The engine runs cleanly at all speeds and the bike holds asteady idle beautifully. The clutch works smoothly and does not slip and the transmission shifts smoothly through all 5 speeds. I've used the choke when starting in truly cold weather but it is normally not needed. The electric starter and kick starter both work as new. Despite the relatively modest 175cc displacement this classic will run all day long at 60-65 mph and is plenty quick enough for modern traffic.Honda's CB175's are notorious for mufflers which are prone to rust however the buyer will have no problems with this one. Though the mufflers on this bike were in very good condition when I first purchased it I knew there could have been internal rust that wasn't yet showing. About 10 years ago I found a set of NOS OEM Honda mufflers (Honda part number HM306HM315) in new condition and installed them. There's no worry of every needing mufflers for this bike.Honda's classic Candy Gold paint is very faderesistant except on the headlight shell which is plastic and typically exposed to direct sunlight. The original shell on this bike had some sun fade but about 10 yearsago I found a perfect NOS OEM Honda HM-16M shell in factory-painted Candy Gold and installed it. There is virtually no fading in the gold paint anywhere on this bike. The bike has never been dropped and there are no dents in the tank. The engine cases in CB175's were silver-painted at the factory - not polished aluminum. As the photos showthe original paint on the cases is still in excellent condition. Honda also put a clear coat over many aluminum parts such as the wheel hubs and lower fork tubes. As the photos show the clear coat is still intact on this bike and in very good to excellent condition. Other minor parts which have been replaced over the years with NOS OEM Honda parts are the upper throttle cable the clutch cable and the petcock. I replaced both tires late last year with quality new tires in proper sizes. I installed a new battery in March of this year. This listing includes the motorcycle the original tool kit and tool bag the original owner's manual an original Honda parts list and two original Honda keys as shown in photos. The loose items must be picked upwith the bike. Please read the full description look closely at the photos and video and ask any questions before bidding.
