This is a 1979 Honda CBX 1000. I bought it acouple years ago (for $6000) in the hopes that I would relive my youthful past. I proceeded to upgrade the bike with a new tank and exhaust and tuned it up ($4000+). The result is that it looks good and everything works great but I have realized that I'm not the man I used to be and don't enjoy riding it for fear that I'm going to kill myself on it. In addition my wife has never been real thrilled about the whole idea of me driving a motorcycle.
It starts right up and is a nice bike. Its not perfect there is some corrosion around the fins and other tell tale signs that its a bike with 160000 miles on it. Its always a head turner and conversation starter. Its very clean and storedinside in a heater garage.
I took a lot of pictures in the hopes that I capture everything. The color of the bike is correct. The pictures sometimes make it look a little orange.
I don't like to think about how much money I sunk into this thing. I really debated whether to place a reserve on this or not but finally decided to commit to getting it sold so I'm offering it with no reserve. I know that I'm not going to get what I have in it. I'm very confident that considering there no reserve that the winning buyer will receive a great deal and a bike that he/she can ride every day immediately. You won't have to put another penny into this bike.

The tach did not work and I ordered a cable so that it would work before the final sale. I just tried installing the cable and that didn't fix the problem so the tach must be broken. Sorry for this. I was very tempted to pull the auction but I'm just going to let it go.
Everything else works great. Horn lights turn signals etc.
On Jun-30-15 at 06:16:24 PDT seller added the following information:I have been asked several questions which I would like to answer for everyone.
There is asmall oil leak that I have taken pictures of to better describe. Email me for them. My email is mnichting@hotmail.com The size of the leak is very apparent with the pictures. I called ebay and asked if I could add more pictures and they said there was no way. That seems hard to believe so I called back and talked to someone else who told me the same thing. I still find it hard to believe but in any event if you want them please email me.
The leak comes from a gasket on the engine. I wiped the leak clean on Sunday at noon and there was a drop of oil this morning (Tuesday) when I came in. It was clean yesterday. I would considered the link typical for a bike of this age but you may not so please bid accordingly.
All other questions are answered with good news. No rust in the tank. I bought a freshly painted and sand blasted tank so its perfect. The gauges light up and are not cloudy (don't forget the tach doesn't work). It idles great and there are no issues with shifting. All of the paint is good and there are no scratches.
Hope this helps.
Thanks
Mike
