This auction is for a 1979 HondaCBX 6 cylinder motorcycle. I purchased this bike in 2007from the original owner and I have put 773 miles on it during that time. I have reached a point in life that I want to reduce my motorcycle collection down some. I will also be selling another 1979 CBX with similar miles and condition on ebay later this summer. The original owner sold it to me because his wife wanted them to buy a Harley. He told me when we were loading it up that he knew that he would be sorry for selling it.
The bike has it's original silver paint, ool kit, wners manual, original keys andHondaline engine guard bars. I had Mike Nixon rebuild the carbs 2 years ago, 800.00, replaced the original alternator with a CBXTRAS Kawasaki style, 500.00, eplaced the trouble some 1979 CBX clutch out for the updated Honda Prolink 1981 unit, 500.00.
The petcock was replaced with a NOS Honda part, he oil filter and pan screen was replaced with NOS Honda parts and I use Honda 10w 40 oil. The brake fluid has been changed out and the only item that will require maintenance will be to change out the old Dunlop tires due to age. The exhaust system is a Sankei reproduction that is 2 years old. The fork seals and dust covers were replaced with Honda parts. Everything works the way it is supposed to and the bike is exceptional with the carb and clutch updates because it does not have the 1979 clutch rattle and the carbs are spot on. I purchased a 1979 CBX brand new back in 1979 and this bike runs just like it. The new Sankei exhaust looks and sounds like the original system.
The bike has the second design cylinder studs that Honda went to later in the 1979 model year. The early straight style studs apparently had some clamping issues and Honda decided to upgrade the previous studs with a recall and then the laterproduction 79 models had the change incorporated.
The tank has a small depression that is hard to see to the left of the decal on the top of the tank. No one has ever detected or commented to me because it is very hard to see, did not see it when I purchased it. The plastic tail piece has a repaired crack that I had the Chevrolet dealer's body shop foreman glue with the same adhesive they use on new cars. The front fender has a small chip at the front edge that happened during one of my rides. I have not touched up any of these issues due to trying to keep the bikeclose tooriginal. I have included these issues with photos in my listing. The Honda Comstar rims have some small scratches from a previous tire change and the motor has some minor clear coat and paint peeling. It is in excellent condition for being 36 years old and has always been stored inside.
I have a fair reserve on the bike and the auction will run through duration.
I require a $500.00 PayPal deposit within 48 hoursof the end of the auction. If you live outside the lower 48 states or have a feedback of less that 10, ou need to contact me before bidding. The buyer is responsible for all shipping and crating charges. I will assist the buyer with the transportation schedule timeline. I have sold other motorcycles before and the trucking company can pull right up to the front of my home.
The motorcycle will not leave my home until all monies have cleared my local bank.
Please contact me by email or feel free to call me if you have questions about the bike or any arrangements about the sale. The phone number has an answering machine on it and I will return your call.
