RARE (EARLY) 1962 / 61 /60 HONDA DREAM 305 TOURING

CA77-22631 CLEAR TITLE

Up for your consideration is a rare (early) model 1962 CA77 Honda Dream 305 touring model. The frame number has five digits (CA77- 22631) Motor numbers CA77E- 212644. There is quite a spread between the frame numbers and the motor numbers. They say this is normal. These (early) Honda Dream bikes are hard to come by in their original conditionand this year is rarely available. This bike is a rare original vintage collectable. It is an excellent candidate for a restoration.

Conditions: I purchased the Honda Dream in 2006. It would only start with the electric starter. The kick starter arm had a crack in the spline. The drive chain was rusted solid. I did a service on it: changed the oil, leaned the oil filters, eplaced the drive chain, nstalled a new carburetor kit, epaired gas shut off valve and cleaned the fuel tank. and a new Honda seat. I rode it up and down the street a few times, verything seemed to work as it should. I only rode it that once because of the weather checked front tire is in bad shape, not safe) It looks like the original tire of the time period with the wide white wall. The Honda has 12,072 miles on it. The front fender has had some modification. The back fender has a crack in it, lso the metal bracket on the back fender that holds the left shock is cracked. The enclosed chain guard is missing. The side kick stand is missing but the mounting bracket is there. The center stand is there, oth original style mufflers are there. The stainless one is in good shape. The chrome muffler needs work. The air filter and hose is missing. The generating system works. The head light works on high beam only. The high and low beam switch is intermittent. The gas tank and emblems are in great condition. There is some crazing on the chrome head light mount. There is a locking tire pump mounting bracket under the left side of the seat but no tire pump. There is a new battery installed as of July of this year.THE HONDA DREAM HAS A CLEAR TITLE IN MY NAME

History: The (early) model CA77 was released to the dealers in July, 960 but most came out in1961 and ran until the (late) CA77 models came out in 1963 and ran until 1967. The (early) models had a larger tank with no seam in the middle of the gas tank. The equalizer hose was installed in front of the gas tank where the (late) models had the hose in the center of the tank. They had a different bracket on the back fender to mount the turn signal lights on. In March of 1961 Honda released the C77 which was a virtual twin to the CA77. A small tire pump located beneath the seat was added to the C77. This was also the first year for the wet sump motors. A lot of the changes Honda made on the 1961 C77 model would show up on the CA77 for 1962. The difference between C77 model and the CA77 models. C77 are made with Japanese specification and CA77 is made with North American specification.

Summary : I purchased the Honda Dream 305 CA77 touring with every intention of restoring it but when my health wouldn’t allow me to ride anymore, lost interest in it. The bike needs to be ridden, t’s just deteriorating sitting around year after year. I did start the Honda Dream a couple times a year. Here is an excellent opportunity for someone to own a true American Dream, a Honda 305 Dream” It is one of the earliest road bikes and lowest production numbered motorcycles that I have ever seen.
