Description

The following is our story about this one of a kind collector bike and will explain why it really is exceptional. We bought this XR75 brand new at the local Honda dealer in early spring of 1974. This was my wife's bike but shortly after we bought it I wrecked my MT250 and she quit riding all together. I sold my repaired 250 a few years later but she refused to sell hers. This bike has not been ridden for over 25 years. It has never been raced or modified in any way. I am certain it has less than 200 total hours of riding and all of that has been just putting up a trail. Nothing has been repainted and the engine has never been opened up or removed from the bike. It has been stored inside without gas for over 25 years and all I did was put new gaskets and jets in the carburetor, new fuel line and filter, new spark plug and new oil in the crankcase. Believe it or not, t started on the second kick! I have since given it a decent cleaning so you can see the condition of the bike and lubed and adjusted the drive chain. This little bike is so original that It even has the actual tires that were on it when we bought it new (the rear tire has a slow leak in the inner tube and will lose air in about a week - I have a replacement tube which you can install if you choose to.) The bike is not perfect because there are a few scratches on the fenders and paint and two small dents in the rear left side of the gas tank. I tried to get these dents to show in the photos(see photos 8 and 15 left side of tank) but they are hard to see unless you get the light to reflect just right. The grip on the right has the end torn off and the lever boots on both sides are torn but I have NOS (new old stock) replacements that you can put on if you choose. I have replaced a few case screws due to the Phillips head being damaged and the tire info sticker on the rear fender is new. The seat is original like everything else and there is a small spot at the rear top where the vinyl has the start of a hole (see photos 10 and 14 rear of the seat). The original tool kit is still attached under the seat. The gas tank shows some light rust on the inside but it is minor. My wife had me add the "75" on the front plate right after we bought it. There are some very minor areas where there is a little rust showing, ike on the side plates where the bolt holds it on and some corners in the frame and on the chain guard but again these are minimal. One of the most unusual aspects of this 42 year old dirt bike is that I have the original title issued in April 1974. When titled in April 1974 the title clerk mistakenly listed this as a 1974 model so that is how the title reads but the serial number on the title XR75-1019307 and on the frame match and clearly prove this is a 1973 model. The second numeral is a 0 which indicates the K0 model from 1973. In 1973 the frame and engine serial numbers would not be an exact match but should be within a few hundred of each other and the numbers on our bike are less than 100 apart. Most of these early mini moto-cross bikes were ridden hard or raced and had several owners over the years. Those that are left today are usually made from pieces of several bikes and possibly some aftermarket or replica parts. However, his is not one of those "restored" bikes made from who knows how many other bikes with no discernible history but a genuine original as it came from the Honda dealer's showroom with the original frame, ngine, eat, ires and more. I have tried to be as thorough and honest as I could in describing our bike but if you have any questions please feel free to ask me. After all, e are the original owner! Thanks for looking and hope you choose to bid.
