Description

.....Hello, or those of you that may have been following this ad, bay pulled the ad on me, omething about how I had it in the wrong category, o here we go again. Sorry about that, ut let's try this again, nd we will shorten the auction length in case you were one of themanypeople looking, ollowing the ad and were expecting to get this motorcycle soon. Thanks, ead on please

Welcome, 'm going to write a long ad on this one because this bike and I go way back. If you are seriously interested in this 250, LEASE, hen you get a chance try to read the entire ad. It's long but there are some pertinent pieces of info along the way.

First off....YES, am the original owner and YES, here is a total of only551 miles on this motorcycle, ll put on by me.

If you look back in our 100% feedback I think you can get a pretty clear picture of what type of person you are dealing with if you are interested in this Honda. If you look back in our feedback in the over 6 months area you will see that I sold a 71 Pontiac Le Mansto a guy that I also had sitting around here for manyyears, ut not nearly as long as I have had this 250. I thought the Le Mans would be a local person to buy itand pick up but he was from Kentucky and we spent many times on the phone getting everything just right before it was shipped to him. He never saw the car before he bought it and was very happy.

I am not suggesting that you should bid on or buy this 250 sight unseen, ith the exception of our posted pictures. In fact I actually prefer to sell it to somebody local so that they can come by, ee it, heck it out, tc.

By the way, f course the Honda will be open for inspection if you can come by or if you are out of the area maybe you have a friend or family member that can check it out.

Now on to some of the more important info. I purchased this Honda brand new off the loton 02/08/77. It is a 1975 Honda 250 XL. There was an oil embargo from the Middle East in 1973 and people starting buying motorcycles like crazy, ut after the embargo ended the dealers ended up with tons of these Hondas for sale, hich is why you see I bought it in 77 even though it is a 75 Model.

I do have the original ownership certificate with those dates on it. Let's talk about California DMV for a sec. The bike obviously has neverchanged ownership and since I didn't ride it forthat long at thattime, never renewed anything on it DMV wise. That is not a problem. A couple of years ago I called the Cal DMV thinking I am going to start using it to go to the corner store, ocally here, tc. and they said, o problem, twas totally off their records after 10 years. They said to just bring the paperwork in and start over. Each state may vary so if you don't live in Cal., ou should check that out.

Let me talk about the 551 miles that are on it....about half, 75 miles were put on the bike in 1977-79. Most of those were in the SoCal desert where my friends and Iwould go on a Saturday, ith a very couple of miles only out of those were going to the corner store. Then, became self employed, ent into a newbusiness and unfortunately my riding buddies moved north and my bike sat parked in my garage which was in Ontario, a....and parked...then our 4children starting being born in the early 80's....so parked...parked...you get the drift....forever it seemed.

Finally....1989, e bought a small second home in Lucerne Valley, a.... On the weekendsthat we went out there I would take the Honda in my truck and bring it back home at the end of the day, s that house was isolated and I didn't want to leave it there. So, nother approx. 275 miles were ridden, ust dirt roads and trails during the 89-92 years. Sold thathouse around 93 to use money to but bigger better house for the family, o no more riding for me out there.

Since then we have moved once and it has either been parkedin my garage or sometimes parkedinside my industrial building depending on where I had more space.

Now, here is a mile or two left to account for and that came about 3 to 4 years ago. I was getting older, nd work related injuries took a toll on me, nd I'm not very handy with mechanics anyway so I took the bike to a very small local shop and asked them to go over it and get it running so that I could ride it to the corner store, tc....They had it like a month, ot it running, ut basically told me they weren't into that kind of old stuff, o pick it up, o new tires, tc. Gave them like $275, ot exactly sure for what but it was running and the only and I say only thing ever added to this bike is that they added a small filter below the gas tank and said watch for junk and clean that out every so often...But it was running and pretty cool riding it slowly up and down the street....However those werevery oldtires, till holding air, o obviously I didn't want to ride it very fast or far, o I loaded it up, ook it to Chapparal Motor Sports, big place in San Bernardino, a. to get tires...They told me, heir exact words, e don't take tires off these old bikes and replace, would need to go home, ake off the tire/rim and bring just it back....That's as far as that went. I have somehealth problems and injuries that doesn't have me being able to do some things, oupled with that fact that I am like terrible at any thing mechanics wise. I mean, have a problem, take my cars somewhere, thought my motorcycle to the shop to take care of the problems, ight?...No, guess not when the motorcycle is this old.

Most of you looking at this ad are probably the opposite of me. You work on these, now plenty about these bikes and you, ot me, hould own this one...seriously.

Let me mention the things that I know are wrong.

There is one very small tear on the seat. It has held up pretty good over the years. There are some scraps, cratches, tc. consistent with a used 551 miles bike of its age andwith a guy that is not a good rider and dropped the bike twice.

Amazing that they still hold air, these are the original tires, ut will need to be replaced because who knows what could go wrong there.

In 77 I had met a group of buds that were into off road bike riding. They encouraged me to buy a bike. They were very good riders, found out I was not. I bought my Honda so I could just trail ride or go on road, ince it's an XL for street or dirt and to go to the corner liquor store at home. These guys had like TT 500's YZ Yamahas, 60's, verything that hauled ass. So, his guy, e, hat couldn't even ride a skateboard as a kid, ar infections as a child and zero balance, hought I could hang with them.....NO...The first couple of times I went out to the desert riding with them, twice I went flying one way and the bike the other, o I calmed down and realized that I wasn't destined to be the next (insert a famous motocross riders name here)...I was good with and really enjoyed dirt road or trail riding and that kept my butt in the seat and the bike on it's tires.

Basically the motorcycle has been parked for over 38 years with the exception ofseveral days of riding.

On those two separate falls, he kickstand bent so I took it off, nd have no idea where it is, o the 250 needs a kickstand. The back light bent just a little bit, idn't break and I'm pretty sure that could be straightened. The front clutch handle bent with the fall and I'm sure that's not a big deal to replace....The rubber like grip for the throttle handle is not there. I think it sort of ripped and just came off.

Mirrors: My kids, hen they were wayyounger, ould like to sit on the bike while I was in the garage. One day one of the kids was like hanging on the mirror, ike it was some sort of jungle gym equipment, o I'm like, eriously you are not doing that, ell, t didn't break but I had thought, mm, will just unscrew the mirrors and put them up safely so the kids won't break them, ccidently, eah right....Well,I'm just not sure how, ut two mirrors some how walked out of my garage all on their own, ecause I have looked everywhere for those mirrors and they are just not here. We live on a huge wash with many trees, here as our kids grew they used to play, nd many of my tools, aws, tc ended up down there.....Probably where my mirrors ended up as I don't remember them having legs, eing able to walk outand who would just rip off mirrors out of my garage...If you have children, think you may be able to relate to this mirror part. Conclusion is the mirrors are off the Honda and I didn't buy new ones as there seem to be different styles, tc. now days and maybe the new owner wants those.

Original owners manual and tool kit comes with this auction too!....Yes, ucked away under the locked 250 seat are those items. I do not know if all the tools are there, ut you can look at the tools/manual picture and see what you will get. If there is an original tool missing, ee mirror section above about where it might be.

Starting, icking it over, tc. I am 60 y/old, ave had heart attack, ave several damaging injuries from my job, o.......I have not started the bike up in a long time. After that small shop, ee above, ad it up and running I would start it up every week or so, ell, hat stopped and I'm not going to get another heart attack trying to do that now, o, hat would mean the 250 is currently not running.

Inspection: I'm here most of the time. If you want to see the 250 email me and we can set it up

PICK UP/SHIPPING...Local pickup is obviously no problem, xcept....you load with very little help from me, ee health issues above. I can roll the bike up a ramp, tc, ut I am not lifting it.....shipping: if you need it shipped that is on you as far as finding shipping and charges. And, f you do find somebody to pick it up and ship the same thing applies that I can help, tc. and ifit will roll right onto a ramp, railer, ift gate etc. But I'm not lifting it.

PAYMENT; $200.00 deposit at least by24 hours after auction ends. Please pick up and have total paid within 5 days of auction end, r contact me if you have to have other arrangements and we can see how that goes.

NO FEEDBACK;If you have less than 5 feedback DO NOTbid on this motorcycle without contacting me first through email, hen I will give my phonenumber and we can talk. Reason....well, he 71 Le Mans that I mentioned selling above was first bid on by a0 feedback person that bid on it, an others off by high bidding, hen disappeared....Yeah, hat is not cool at all, ut it did happen to meand I had to file a dispute and wait like 10 days to rerun the ad, tc.

PICTURES; We tried to show a variety of pictures from different angles, tc. A couple of the pics are of the specific problem parts that I mentioned above, ent back light, ent clutch handle, tc. Please look closely at the pictures and ask any questions that you may have.

Conclusion: At one time I really liked riding this motorcycle, ut it's time for it to go and I'm tired of typing so let's wrap this up. The bike is not currently running, ut should start up pretty easily. There are a few things from the falls, hat I believe may be aneasy fix. Ifthe bikenot running becomes a problem here on Ebay, will probablypull the ad, nd wait for one of my sons to come in from out of state and we will fire it up and then it will be for sale as running.

Please look at the pictures closely, s pics on Ebay, tc. can make an item look better at times and also worse. Just depends on angles, ighting, tc. The best way to see the 250 is to be local to SoCaland contact me, ee it for yourself, r send a friend or family member here that is local to SoCal.

Thank you. I know this was long....Takecare!
