1982 Honda XL500R for sale. Bought this bike as a barn find and rebuilt it from the frame up using parts sourced from salvage yards and the internet. It is a fun little on-road off-road dual sport bike that runs well. It is kick start only and has 5 gears. I have a few extra parts to throw in with it, uch as an extra front fender and bunch of engine seals that I purchased but never got the chance to install. I have put well over $1500 into getting this bike up and running and have all the records of everything I purchased for the bike. Sadly, his bike is worth more parted out than it is whole, ut hopefully, omeone who enjoys tinkering and restoring vintage bikes will purchase it and keep her going. I no longer have time to enjoy riding it and hope to be able to pass it on to another vintage enthusiast. Please feel free to email with questions.
On Dec-13-15 at 07:30:39 PST, eller added the following information:I have included several original pictures that were taken on the day I purchased the bike and this is the condition it was restored from. I put an hour meter on the bike once she was up and running and I have put about 33 hours on thus far. I have been riding the bike too and from work periodically to keep the engine lubed and the battery charged.
The speedometer is NOT the original speedo that came with the bike and so the mileage is that listed on the original speedometer. It appears the original owner of this bike seized the engine by running it w/ little to no oil, hich is why the cylinder, iston and rings were replaced. I did not bore the engine or replace the valves. She leaks a slight bit of oil from the top end due to a slight leak around one of the top end bolts that was re-tapped to accommodate a 7mm bolt to replace the 6mm stock.
