Description

In 1977 Motorcyclist magazine offered a contest where you could enter

to win a'77CR125 Honda with a FMF race kit. Mydad received the mag

in the mail and I really wanted to own that bike even though I was too

short to ride it. (What kid wouldn't want a blazing red machine that the

editors called a "Motocross Monster"?)The bike featured the famous FMF

Porcupinecylinder head and aFMF Pro downpipe. It was also equipped

with a Mikuni carb, n oversized aluminum swingarm that I believe

wascalled the FMF Gorilla Arm and a heavy duty clutch. The suspension

had trick air shocks in the rear with remote reservoirsand your choice

of FMFmodified forks or Ceriani tubescould begotten forthe front triple

clamps. The stock metal tank was replaced with a copy ofthe Honda

grand prix works RC125 gas tank. Topping off the FMF Racer project

was a set of high and wide Andre's bars so you could hang on to the

beast and a heavy duty 520 chain and sprocket kit that kept the rear tire

roosting. The 1977 Honda CR125 featured in this auction was builtas a

tribute to that FMF racer featured in Motorcyclist. It has some of

the best vintageFMF componentsthat can be found. The rest of

the machine has undergone a museum quality restoration withseveral

billet aluminum piecesmachined and custom decals printed. The motor

is new from top to bottom. The entire bike is clean as a whistle

inside in out. This machine is a great opportunity for a MXenthusiast

to own one a very rare piece ofvintage motocross history. Included

in the auction is theoriginal July 1977 Motorcyclist magazine that features

the FMF Racer and the contest giveaway ballot. Good luck bidding, his

cycle comes with a Bill of Saleonly, here is no title for this off-road

machine.
